The two-day summit, attended by leaders of AU member states, was held under the AU's 2025 theme: "Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations".

In addition to the main theme, discussions will focus on important continental issues such as regional peace and security, economic development, AU institutional reform and Africa's growing role in the international arena.

At the conference, African leaders gathered in Addis Ababa hoping to find new solutions to the conflicts raging on the continent, in which the situation in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo will be the hottest issues on the agenda.

"For us to achieve our (sustainability) goals by 2063, we need to solve all the problems and make Africa a better place, without conflict," Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio told reporters ahead of the conference.

An important item on the agenda of this Summit is the election of senior leadership positions in the AU Commission, including the Chairman, Vice Chairman and six members.
