(NADS) - On the afternoon of December 28, in Hanoi, the Yen Bai Provincial Association of Literature and Arts (VALA) held the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition and award ceremony of the 2023 Art Photography Contest with the theme "Yen Bai - Where the colors of the Northwest converge"

Attending the ceremony were: Associate Professor, Doctor of Musician Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists; Painter Nguyen Dinh Thi - President of the Yen Bai Union of Literature and Arts, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Contest.

The 2023 Art Photography Contest with the theme "Yen Bai - Where the Colors of the Northwest Convergence" was held for the first time nationwide by the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts launched in April 2023, attracting the participation of many photographers across the country.

As a professional sponsor for the Contest, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists has helped the Organizing Committee build a separate website for the Contest; introduced members to the Jury; helped promote and mobilize members nationwide to actively participate in composing about Yen Bai and participating in the Contest.

At the ceremony, Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, said: This is the first art photography contest of Yen Bai province, organized nationwide, to promote the beauty of nature, daily life, traditional festivals, customs, beliefs, and typical products of the people of Yen Bai province; for photographers to create many beautiful works, contributing to promoting the image of Yen Bai land and people, spreading the image of Yen Bai to domestic and international friends, making Yen Bai increasingly develop in the direction of "Green - Harmony - Identity - Happiness". With a wide range of topics, this contest is an interesting playground for artists nationwide.

Painter Nguyen Dinh Thi - Chairman of Yen Bai Literature and Arts Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Competition delivered the opening speech of the exhibition.

Speaking at the opening of the Exhibition, Painter Nguyen Dinh Thi - Chairman of the Yen Bai Literature and Arts Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Competition affirmed that this is a meaningful and unique activity for Yen Bai province to introduce to the public at home and abroad, especially to the public of the Capital about the natural beauty, people, and cultural identity of the ethnic groups of Yen Bai province. The art photo exhibition "Yen Bai - Where the colors of the Northwest converge" is a meaningful and unique cultural activity in the series of cultural activities in the capital Hanoi towards celebrating the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and celebrating the spring of Giap Thin 2024.

After more than 6 months, there have been over 45,000 visits to the Contest's website with 1,066 works by 153 authors from 35 provinces and cities registered to participate in the contest. Of which, Yen Bai province has 181 works by 21 authors; Hanoi city has 319 works by 44 authors; Ho Chi Minh city has 51 works by 07 authors; Da Nang city has 70 works by 10 authors; Phu Tho province has 66 works by 08 authors; Son La province has 55 works by 07 authors; Bac Ninh province has 53 works by 07 authors; Thua Thien Hue province has 31 works by 04 authors; Lao Cai province has 28 works by 05 authors... along with many other works by domestic authors.

The Jury has selected 100 excellent works (26 photo sets and 74 single photos) by 56 authors to display and introduce to the public of the capital and tourists at Hanoi Book Street from December 28, 2023 to January 3, 2024.

At the Award Ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the Contest awarded 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes and 5 Encouragement Prizes to the authors.
