Launching a writing contest on 'Love at the border'

This is a practical activity to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024); 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, 35th anniversary of National Defense Day; 66th anniversary of Border Guard Traditional Day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2025), 36th anniversary of Border Guard Traditional Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2025) and 62nd anniversary of Lai Chau Border Guard Traditional Day (February 7, 1963 - February 7, 2025).

Mr. Nguyen Viet Manh, Editor-in-Chief of Lai Chau Newspaper, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association and Colonel Le Cong Thanh, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command emphasized that this meaningful writing contest contributes to encouraging and motivating journalists and soldiers who are day and night protecting national sovereignty and border security. The contest also creates a useful playground, contributing to training and improving the professional qualifications of journalists, which is a premise for the Border Guard and the press to coordinate better in propaganda work, accompanying, standing side by side and helping each other to successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to spreading the beautiful image of soldiers in green uniforms in the border land.

The 2024 writing contest on the border and the Lai Chau Provincial Border Guard was held for the first time and will be considered for further organization, aiming to select and award prizes to authors and groups of authors with excellent press works on the border and the Provincial Border Guard in various aspects of work such as: Protecting territorial sovereignty, national border security; border diplomacy, people's diplomacy in border areas, patrolling and controlling borders and border gates; preventing and combating natural disasters, epidemics, searching and rescuing; fighting and preventing crimes, building a national border defense, a national border defense posture, etc.

In addition, the contest also contributes to honoring examples of silent sacrifices from the rear so that officers and soldiers can feel secure in protecting the border; bright spots and milestones in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security; promoting mass mobilization work, relying on people to manage and protect the border, maintain security, politics and social order and safety in border areas; propagating and mobilizing people in border areas to strengthen national solidarity, implement the Party and State's economic and social policies and programs, participate in building the grassroots political system, etc.

The participating press works are in the form of print, electronic, radio and television. The time for publication and broadcasting of the works is from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The deadline for receiving works is January 30, 2025 (according to the postmark).

The Organizing Committee will select quality works to award 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 7 Consolation Prizes, and 2 Consolation Prizes.

The announcement and award ceremony of the Contest will be held on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of Border Guard Traditional Day and the 36th anniversary of National Border Guard Day.
