The agricultural land area in Song Cong City is increasingly narrowing to make room for industrial, commercial and service development. To ensure agricultural growth of 4-5% per year, the locality prioritizes investment in developing high-tech agriculture. From reality, this policy has initially brought positive results.

The Phalaenopsis orchid crop of Mr. Dinh Xuan Loi's family, in residential group 1, Thang Loi ward (Song Cong city), continued to be a big success during the recent Tet holiday. Accordingly, his family planted 120,000 Phalaenopsis orchids of various types, which were favored by customers and sold very well. Each orchid branch costs from 160,000 to 180,000 VND, with a total income of over 1.2 billion VND.
This is the third year that Mr. Loi's family has grown orchids to sell during Tet and is the first high-tech orchid growing model in Song Cong City. Stemming from his passion and love for orchids and realizing that the market demand for high-end orchid products in Thai Nguyen is quite large, in 2022, he boldly invested over 3 billion VND to build a system of net houses and greenhouses.
With a closed process, from temperature, light to care and watering, all are invested in a systematic way, ensuring the correct technical process. According to Mr. Loi, the initial investment in the model is large, but in return, the profits are high in the following years.

The Green Livestock Cooperative in Pha residential group, Luong Son ward (Song Cong city) also chose to apply high technology in the livestock sector.
Mr. Dang Van Ngu, Director of Green Livestock Cooperative : Our barn is well invested with automatic drinking fountain system for animals, stainless steel feed trough, fan system, air conditioner and biological carpet.
The barn is also equipped with a misting system from the entrance to the livestock area, helping to limit epidemics, and has a separate waste treatment area, ensuring no environmental pollution. In order to proactively source animal feed, the cooperative applies science and technology, investing in feed processing machines, such as: vegetable choppers, corn bran grinders, feed mixers, etc.
At the same time, applying the method of mixing feed, taking advantage of available raw materials such as rice bran, corn, potatoes, cassava, green vegetables... grown by cooperative members themselves, significantly reduces production costs and helps manage the origin of raw materials. Currently, the Green Livestock Cooperative has built a safe food supply chain in Thang Loi and Luong Son wards. Thanks to that, the products sold are priced about 10% higher than normal pork.
Planned as an industrial urban area developing in a modern direction, agricultural production in Song Cong City is facing many challenges, such as: The area of agricultural land is increasingly narrowing, most of which is interspersed land; many areas are planned and reclaimed to implement projects to build industrial parks, clusters, urban areas, residential areas... Therefore, investing in developing high-tech agriculture is a suitable solution and has been included in the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Party Committee of Song Cong City, term 2020-2025.

To effectively implement this policy, along with mobilizing and guiding people to promote the application of high technology in agricultural production, with many different sources of support, Song Cong City has allocated a significant amount of funding to invest and support people in implementing production models, such as: One-time support of 40% of the cost of investing in advanced irrigation technology, saving water for tea; support for the construction of greenhouses, net houses, and greenhouses in the production of vegetables, flowers, and melons. The support level is 40% of the investment cost for 1 project approved by competent authorities... In the period of 2020-2025, the city has supported about 10 billion VND for farmers to build over 10 models of agricultural development applying high technology.
However, reality shows that although a number of high-tech agricultural models have been formed and initially brought high economic efficiency, implementation still faces many difficulties.
Mr. Ngo Quang Ba, Head of the Economic Department of Song Cong City, said: The investment capital for developing high-tech agriculture is large. To build a livestock farm according to this model is 3-4 times higher than a traditional livestock farm. For cultivation, investing in 1 hectare of complete greenhouse with an automatic irrigation and fertilization system also requires at least tens of billions of VND. These models also require knowledgeable human resources to take care of crops and livestock scientifically. These are big "barriers" that not all farmers can do.
Mr. Vu Duy Nghia, Chairman of Song Cong City People's Committee : In the development of the Resolution of the 10th Song Cong City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, the locality continues to orient the development of green agriculture and high-tech agriculture. Accordingly, the locality prioritizes agricultural development on the basis of promoting comparative advantages and value chains, focusing on local key products that bring high economic value.
The city also focuses on planning concentrated commodity production areas according to VietGAP and organic standards. To have investment resources, the locality continues to seek support from the Central and the province in the field of agricultural development and allocates adequate funding to support people in investing in building sustainable and effective agricultural development models.
