Realizing that the environment is a living space, protecting the environment is protecting one's own life, Bien Hoa City has been carrying out many activities towards a green - clean - beautiful environment, actively communicating to change and raise awareness of environmental protection for people through simple, easy-to-do things.
* Actively protect the environment
Reducing plastic waste and sorting waste at source is a "hot" issue for the whole community, in which Bien Hoa City is a rather urgent issue. With the desire to join hands to protect the environment, aiming to build a green - clean - beautiful, environmentally friendly urban area, Bien Hoa City is implementing many good models, practical methods, creating a strong change in the awareness of each citizen about protecting the living environment.
During the Waste Classification and Exchange for Gifts Festival in May 2023, organized by the Bien Hoa City Youth Union in coordination with the City Department of Education and Training at 5 secondary schools in Bien Hoa City, many students were very excited to participate in this festival. They brought along various types of plastic waste and recyclable materials such as: plastic, cans, cardboard, old notebooks, scrap iron, copper, aluminum, etc. to exchange for notebooks, school supplies or get gas coupons for their parents.
Vu Tien Thang, a 7th grade student at Trang Dai Secondary School, and his mother brought to the festival a bag of recycled waste, including old and damaged household plastic items, books, newspapers, cardboard boxes and plastic packaging that his family had sorted to exchange for gifts.
With those discarded trashes, the mother and son were able to exchange for 3 1-liter gasoline coupons, 5 notebooks, 2 ballpoint pens and 1 compass. “Sorting recyclable trash has many benefits, both exchanging for useful items and reducing littering in the environment, so I will help my mother sort trash every day,” Thang shared.
Bien Hoa City has many good ways to protect the environment that people, teenagers, and students participate in and join hands to build such as: a traditional market to reduce plastic waste, exchanging waste for gifts, smart trash cans, green, clean, beautiful youth self-managed routes..., contributing to spreading widely to the whole community the change of habits that are beneficial to the environment, for a green, clean, beautiful, civilized, modern city.
Among the positive highlights of environmental protection activities, Bien Hoa City Youth Union is always the vanguard force, taking the lead in many activities. In Youth Month 2023 alone, the grassroots Youth Union of 30 wards and communes in the city simultaneously launched movements: Volunteering to join hands to build new rural areas in the area, Green Sunday, Collecting, classifying and treating waste, Planting and caring for more than 1,500 trees, Sorting waste at source, Scraping off advertising trash on the roads, Handling spontaneous landfills, Launching communication campaigns on the benefits of classifying and treating waste...
With the above practical and meaningful activities of Bien Hoa City Youth Union, people have better understood the meaning of environmental protection activities and joined hands to build a civilized, clean, beautiful and environmentally friendly city.

According to Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee Do Khoi Nguyen, the city has assigned the responsibility of monitoring, supervising, warning, managing environmental quality and waste management at the grassroots level to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of wards and communes; at the same time, environmental sanitation issues are included in the criteria for ranking emulation among localities at the end of the year. This emulation work is being carried out quite drastically by localities, including resolutely handling and strictly punishing cases of littering in the wrong places.
“To maintain a clean and beautiful urban environment, in addition to the responsibility of environmental service companies, the local government also plays a very important role and above all, the awareness of each citizen in maintaining public hygiene. Through promoting propaganda on environmental protection activities, many people have become more aware of maintaining public hygiene, reducing waste, classifying and reusing plastic waste, as well as disposing of waste in the right place. Hopefully, the urban environment will become cleaner, greener and more livable day by day” - Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee Do Khoi Nguyen said.
As a powerful "arm" of the Bien Hoa City People's Committee in environmental protection activities, the Bien Hoa City Youth Union has mobilized young volunteers to participate in and maintain sustainable environmental protection activities. Secretary of the Bien Hoa City Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Thao An said: "In the coming time, the City Youth Union will continue to promote communication through social networks and visual propaganda publications to convey messages to people, students, and young people about environmental protection, saving natural resources, and responding to climate change. Through each task and project, the youth of Bien Hoa City further affirm their pioneering role in environmental protection, waste classification at source, contributing to building "livable" countrysides and for a clean, civilized, and modern city.
