Mr. Nguyen Van Nen said that over the past 75 years, the traditional friendship, trust and cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria have continuously developed. The Vietnamese Government and people always remember the great help and support of Bulgaria in the struggle for national independence as well as in the cause of national construction. Ho Chi Minh City wishes to strengthen cooperation with localities and partners of Bulgaria.
The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee shared that the Vietnam - Bulgaria Business Forum taking place during the President's visit to Ho Chi Minh City is an important opportunity for businesses from both sides to meet, share, exchange information and seek potential cooperation opportunities, soon realizing the spirit of cooperation that the leaders of the two countries have agreed on.
On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen expressed his hope that the Bulgarian President would pay attention to creating conditions to promote cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the capital Sofia, taking advantage of each other's potential and advantages for mutual development, especially in areas that the city is interested in and Bulgaria has strengths.
On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee chaired the Vietnam - Bulgaria Business Forum, attracting the participation of more than 200 Vietnamese and Bulgarian businesses.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the Vietnam - Bulgaria Business Forum is an important opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.
Bulgaria is a country with strong potential in areas such as information technology, organic agriculture, medicine and renewable energy. These are areas that Ho Chi Minh City is very interested in and wishes to learn and cooperate with.

Mr. Vo Van Hoan emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City is always committed to creating the most open, transparent and favorable investment environment for investors. The city focuses on administrative reform, digitalizing public services and building a creative startup ecosystem. These efforts have helped the city maintain its position as the leading locality in the country in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) for many consecutive years.
President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev said he was impressed by the economic development of Ho Chi Minh City over the past years with excellent results. Bulgaria wants to have more cooperation opportunities that are beneficial to both sides.
According to Mr. Rumen Radev, Ho Chi Minh City has an important strategic position, while Bulgaria has a favorable trading position between Asia and Europe. That means the two sides still have many opportunities for cooperation in maritime and road transport, and cooperation in improving infrastructure and logistics.
"Bulgaria hopes to strengthen economic cooperation with Vietnam, especially in areas where Bulgaria has strengths such as transportation, logistics, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding, education and training, automobile manufacturing or agricultural cooperation," said Mr. Rumen Radev.
Immediately afterwards, a high-ranking delegation from the Republic of Bulgaria and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee visited the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO).

Ms. Hoang Thai Lan, President of the Vietnam - Bulgaria Friendship Association, on behalf of Vietnamese people who have studied and worked in Bulgaria, said that the Bulgarian people are always close friends of the Vietnamese people.
Bulgaria has always stood shoulder to shoulder, providing Vietnam with valuable support both materially and spiritually as well as supporting human resource training for Vietnam during the years of war for independence and national construction.
“More than 34,000 Vietnamese people have studied and worked in Bulgaria and the luggage they bring back to Vietnam is valuable knowledge and experience learned from Bulgaria, to contribute to building their homeland,” said Ms. Lan.
Bulgarian President Rumen Radev shared that Bulgaria not only provided spiritual and material support in Vietnam's fight for national liberation but also invested in people through training.
According to President Rumen Radev, it is important that Vietnamese students studying in Bulgaria have become a bridge of friendship between the two countries. This is evidenced by the strong development of relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam in the past 10 years. He believes that there will be more student exchange programs between the two countries, and cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism.

On the same afternoon, the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee accompanied the high-ranking delegation of Bulgaria on a cruise on the Saigon River, visiting Bach Dang Wharf.
