| Conference Overview. |
(PLVN) - On October 9, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Phuoc to organize a conference to discuss directly with business leaders in provinces and cities about the ecosystem to take advantage of FTAs, including the EVFTA agreement in the agricultural sector (focusing on the cashew industry).
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Cashew Association, economic experts, leaders of departments, branches, districts, towns and many businesses from provinces and cities.
According to information at the Conference, after more than 4 years of implementation, the Vietnam - European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has created favorable opportunities to diversify markets and expand export products for the business community.
However, besides the opportunities, there are also many difficulties and challenges that managers, businesses and farmers have been facing, including increasingly fierce competition as Vietnam integrates deeply into the global economy.

The seminar is an opportunity for localities and businesses in the cashew industry value chain to exchange and share experiences on difficulties and obstacles, establish cooperative relationships, and build and operate the cashew industry ecosystem in the future.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Long - Director of Binh Phuoc Department of Industry and Trade said that in the first 9 months of 2024, the province's estimated cashew nut export output reached 219 thousand tons, an increase of 32.17% over the same period in 2023 and accounting for 60% of the total cashew nut export output of the whole country.
In recent times, the provincial departments and branches have coordinated to promote and support businesses in taking advantage of incentives and opportunities from FTA agreements to raise awareness and understanding of the commitments as well as to maximize export advantages and promote the province's socio-economic development towards industrialization, modernization and proactive international economic integration.

At the conference, in addition to assessing the utilization of FTAs by the cashew industry in the markets, the existing problems in growing, producing, processing and exporting cashews from Vietnam to FTA partner markets, the delegates focused on discussing the project of an ecosystem to utilize FTAs; methods, roadmap for construction and benefits, criteria for participation in the construction and operation of an ecosystem to utilize FTAs for the cashew industry; difficulties, obstacles, establishing cooperative relationships, constructing and operating the cashew industry ecosystem as well as the initiative of enterprises and associations in implementation. This is the basis for the organizing committee to unify the plan to operate the ecosystem to utilize FTAs for the cashew industry in the coming time.
