Number of people withdrawing social insurance at one time decreased
According to Vietnam Social Security, in 2024, the number of people receiving one-time social insurance benefits will be nearly 1.1 million. This number is down 1.6% compared to 2023.
According to Mr. Do Ngoc Tho - Head of Social Insurance Implementation Policy Department (Vietnam Social Insurance), there are many reasons for this.
One is the revised Social Insurance Law 2024. Accordingly, those who participate in social insurance before July 1, 2025 will still receive a lump sum as before, so employees can rest assured about the policy and no longer feel that their benefits will be reduced.
Next, the new law, effective from July 1 this year, expands many benefits, such as reducing the minimum number of years of social insurance contributions from 20 years to 15 years (to receive pension), adding a monthly subsidy level for retirees who do not meet the conditions (only applicable if social insurance is not withdrawn at one time)...
In addition, the socio-economic situation in 2024 has many positive changes, workers' income is better so they do not think about having to withdraw social insurance at one time. Communication work from press agencies helps many people realize the disadvantages of withdrawing at one time and maintaining social insurance will have long-term security benefits.

Ho Chi Minh City Police warn about common crimes during Tet
Accordingly, criminals often target families who are often away from home, have no one to look after them, or live in sparsely populated areas; agencies, production facilities, businesses, educational institutions with thin security forces, no or broken surveillance cameras, etc.
Therefore, people need to be vigilant and take precautions; reinforce doors, increase security locks with anti-theft capabilities... Especially during Tet, when away from home for a long time, they need to ask someone to look after them and install surveillance cameras.
For agencies, businesses, and educational institutions, the City Police recommend hiring security guards with clear backgrounds and good moral character; during Tet, increase 24/7 security, regularly patrol, stand guard, install security camera systems... In boarding houses, landlords also need to be extremely vigilant against criminals posing as tenants. When detecting or suspecting, they should immediately report to local authorities.
When going out, people should limit carrying valuable assets, if any, they need to keep them carefully; pay attention when moving; should not stop in deserted places, late at night; do not use the phone while moving...
In public places, when property is lost, shout loudly, immediately grab the suspect's hand; ask the nearest person who saw the incident to testify and ask people around and security forces to intervene and support.
The police also warned people about criminals using high technology to defraud and appropriate property such as: impersonating police, prosecutors, tax, electricity... to make fraudulent phone calls, black credit crimes. People need to update information on mass media to raise vigilance and prevention...

Ho Chi Minh City applies digital transformation to logistics supply chain services
Ho Chi Minh City's logistics revenue in 2024 is estimated at VND180,000 billion, accounting for 10% of the city's GRDP. One of the solutions to continue exploiting the development potential of this industry proposed by the city is digital transformation and digital application.
The above content was shared by Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Bui Ta Hoang Vu at the launching event of the E-pricing digital platform on January 14.
According to Mr. Vu, logistics costs used to be around 20%, but now this figure has decreased and is required to be reduced further to increase competitiveness for businesses. In the city's development plan, logistics is positioned as an industry that must be invested in during the 2025-2030 period and the following years.
Logistics is also a driving force in the growth process, so that Ho Chi Minh City can exploit the transport corridor and logistics advantages to become a major logistics center in the region. One of the solutions that the city focuses on is digital transformation and digital application.
“Can Gio international transit port, belt roads 3 and 4, urban railway and a series of projects to be implemented in the coming time have demonstrated the city's determination in building infrastructure as a foundation for logistics development,” the director of the city's Department of Industry and Trade emphasized.
