Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah (Photo: Getty).

Kuwaiti officials announced that Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah died on December 16, but did not specify the cause.

In November, he was hospitalized due to health problems. At that time, the emir's health was stable.

His passing is a great loss to the Middle East region. He was known for his role in mediating conflicts in the region.
