Having lived in the coastal area, only used to enjoying shrimp and fish products from the sea, I confess that strange dishes from rivers and lakes do not easily attract my stomach. But perhaps the fish dish in Da Mi (Ham Thuan Bac) is the exception. Drifting with friends on a boat on Ham Thuan - Da Mi lake, the menu was just a plate of fried dried fish with chili sauce, but it made our conversation long, forgetting the time.

According to the introduction of Da Mi people, the Kim Kim fish, also known as Kim fish, is in the stingray family. Their outstanding feature is that the lower jaw is longer than the upper jaw like a sharp pair of pliers, about 2 - 4 cm long, the fish body is long and balanced. The river Kim Kim fish has a small body and is milky white or transparent, has sweet, chewy meat, and very few bones. Kim Kim fish is split and dried in the sun so it still retains its freshness. Each kilo costs only 550,000 VND.

The dried gourami is considered to have high nutritional content, very good for health, so dishes made from dried gourami are very delicious. The simplest is to fry it crispy and dip it in chili sauce. But when mentioning dishes from dried gourami, we cannot forget the famous salad. The fish is fried crispy and then mixed with thinly sliced ​​green mango, add a little fish sauce, chili, garlic, roasted peanuts, and a few other herbs. When eaten, there is a blend of the sour taste of mango, the crunchy sweetness of fish, an indescribable delicious feeling, you can eat it forever without getting bored.
