Yen Bai - Currently, along with the development of the whole society in the context of technology 4.0, gradually building a basic library model following the trend of applying information technology and digital transformation, creating flexibility in operations, closely following reality will help readers easily access information and knowledge.
The workshop to draft the "Project to build a model of grassroots libraries serving people in mountainous and border areas in the Northern midland and mountainous region for the period 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2045" of 14 provinces in the Northern midland and mountainous region, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recently attracted active discussions from delegates.
In particular, through the assessment data in the survey in 4 provinces: Phu Tho, Lai Chau, Lao Cai and especially Yen Bai province by the working group chaired by the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism, it shows that the current operation of the grassroots library system still has many difficulties and shortcomings compared to modern society. The workshop received many practical comments from experts and representatives of localities on building a grassroots library model that is closer to reality.
Typical examples include: a model for building a digital knowledge center for the public library system, a model for improving the quality of human resources working in libraries at the grassroots level, a model for connecting a global library network - cooperating to share resources and library services, a model for enhancing the completion of policies for developing grassroots libraries, a model for enhancing the development of multimedia mobile library vehicles...
Yen Bai has currently developed 17 libraries from provincial to district and commune levels, 115 grassroots bookcases and 155 classroom bookcases, basically ensuring to serve the needs of readers. Along with the attention of the provincial culture - sports and tourism sector, local Party committees and authorities, the Provincial Library has also actively innovated the activities of the library network and bookcases in educational institutions, armed forces, and localities with a large population of ethnic minorities.
In particular, recently, through the Mobile Library Project serving the community and the Project to improve the ability to use computers and access the public Internet in Vietnam, the unit has promoted the circulation and posting of books, newspapers, and documents to the grassroots level to not only meet the needs in terms of variety and quantity but also in terms of topicality.
In order to gradually improve the quality and efficiency of operations in the 4.0 era, along with constantly innovating the service activities of the library system, the grassroots bookcases are timely, closely following social trends, practical to the needs of readers, the investment in facilities, equipment, and improving the qualifications of human resources has also been focused on by the Provincial Library, building a grassroots library system in the direction of digital technology.
