On the morning of August 1, at the Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs center in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam, a rather exciting Ngoc Linh ginseng competition took place.

This is an activity within the framework of the 6th Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival in 2024, organized by Nam Tra My district.

The contest creates opportunities for meeting and exchanging between businesses, organizations and individuals growing ginseng, recognizing the success of the process of preserving and developing Ngoc Linh ginseng in the district.

Thereby promoting and publicizing the image of Ngoc Linh ginseng in terms of economic value, creating a driving force to promote trade development, introducing the most beautiful ginseng trees of Nam Tra My district to tourists.

Through the preliminary round held on the afternoon of July 31, more than 200 Ngoc Linh ginseng plants were selected by organizations and individuals to participate in the contest. The jury selected 50 beautiful, quality ginseng plants for the final round held this morning.

The Organizing Committee conducted 2 rounds of judging (preliminary and final), finding the most beautiful ginseng plants at the ages: 5-7, 8-10, 11-15 and over 15 years old. On that basis, the most beautiful, highest quality and most comprehensive ginseng plants were selected to award prizes, choosing 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize according to each ginseng category in each age group.

Especially at the final round of the ginseng contest this morning, there was an auction program of the prize-winning ginseng roots donated by organizations and individuals to the organizing committee to support the fund to eliminate temporary houses for poor households in the district.

The auction was quite fun and interesting, the beautiful ginseng trees that won prizes were brought up one by one by their owners for auction. The bidding and competition to close the price were very intense and exciting, making many visitors feel excited.

As a result, a total of 11 individuals and organizations participated in donating ginseng trees to auction to support the fund to eliminate temporary housing in Nam Tra My, with a total auction amount of more than 360 million VND.

Of which, 3 ginseng plants of Mr. Nguyen Van Luong in Tra Linh commune were priced at the highest price of 129 million VND.

The 6th Ngoc Linh ginseng festival (taking place from August 1 to August 3) has many special programs such as the ginseng symbol procession, Ngoc Linh ginseng and mountainous medicinal herbs market, pole performance contest, mountainous culinary stall contest, folk dance contest, and ginseng contest.

The festival promotes Ngoc Linh ginseng to the people in the country and friends around the world, introduces the image, potential, and strengths of the land and people of Nam Tra My to domestic and foreign tourists. Calls on the community to join hands to protect the forest environment. Build brands, promote trade, introduce and promote products from Ngoc Linh ginseng in domestic and foreign markets, gradually moving towards export, increasing value and economic efficiency.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place tonight, August 1, where the decision to recognize the national intangible cultural heritage "Folk knowledge on exploiting, growing and processing Ngoc Linh ginseng - Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam" will be announced.
