Opening of 2,000 billion bridge project on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong liberation

We were present at the construction site of the Ben Rung Bridge Project connecting Hai Phong and Quang Ninh before the technical opening to traffic as scheduled on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024). Construction units are urgently completing the final items, especially the road leading to the bridge on the Quang Ninh side.

Talking to Nguoi Dua Tin , Mr. Tran Duc Thang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province, said that to exploit the benefits that Ben Rung bridge brings, Quang Ninh province invested nearly 360 billion VND (after adjustment) to build a 2.2km long approach road, the starting point connecting with Ben Rung bridge, the end point connecting with the intersection of Provincial Road 338, through Song Khoai commune, Quang Yen town.

In order for the approach road to be completed at the same time as Ben Rung Bridge, along with directing the contractor to arrange construction plans in sections where the site has been handed over and cleared, and to overcome difficulties in filling materials, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province requested the Quang Yen town government to speed up site clearance work.

According to Mr. Thang, by December 2023, Quang Yen town will complete the site clearance and hand over the entire cleared site to the construction unit. Currently, the contractor is focusing on completing the foundation to put the approach road into use in sync with Ben Rung bridge.

“Ben Rung Bridge is a project of special significance to Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city in creating an inter-regional traffic connection system, meeting the transportation and travel needs between the two localities. At the same time, it expands the development space to serve socio -economic development, promoting solidarity and close relationship between the people of the two localities at the bridgehead”, Chairman of Quang Yen town People’s Committee Tran Duc Thang shared.

Ben Rung Bridge over Da Bac River connecting Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City with Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province has a total investment capital of more than 1,940 billion VND from the Central budget, Hai Phong City budget and Quang Ninh Province budget. Of which, the Central budget is more than 1,100 billion VND, Hai Phong budget is more than 835 billion VND and Quang Ninh Province budget is 5.5 billion VND.

The Ben Rung Bridge project officially started on May 13, 2022, on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day. According to the plan, the project will be completed after 24 months on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day.

To ensure the progress of this important traffic project, over the past two years, the leaders of Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city have always paid attention and closely worked to resolve difficulties and obstacles related to site clearance, lack of filling materials, and timely disbursement of investment capital.

Ben Rung Bridge connecting Hai Phong with Quang Ninh will be completed at the end of March 2024.

According to information from the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - the unit assigned to represent the investor of the Ben Rung Bridge Project, after 20 months of construction, on January 31, 2024, the bridge was officially closed. Currently, the construction contractor is focusing on completing the final items to open the technical traffic and put the bridge over the Da Bac River into use on the occasion of May 13.

Ben Rung Bridge is the third bridge connecting Quang Ninh province with Hai Phong city, after Da Bac and Bach Dang bridges (currently the fourth bridge under construction is Lai Xuan bridge - PV). When completed, Ben Rung Bridge will help people in Quang Yen town and Thuy Nguyen district cross Da Bac river quickly, without having to wait for Rung ferry .
