Construction started in May 2022, Ben Rung Bridge is 1,865 m long, 21.5 m wide with 4 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes, designed speed 80 km/h.
The project has nearly 2,000 billion VND in investment, of which the central budget allocates 1,100 billion VND, Hai Phong city more than 835 billion VND and Quang Ninh province 5.5 billion VND.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders of ministries, branches, and leaders of the two localities of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh cut the ribbon to open Ben Rung bridge to traffic.
Quang Ninh province also invested 356 billion VND to build a connecting road from Ben Rung bridge to the intersection on Highway 338 (Quang Yen town).
The Ben Rung Bridge, when put into operation, will help make travel between Thuy Nguyen district (Hai Phong city) and Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh province) more convenient and faster, without having to wait 30-60 minutes for the Rung ferry, or having to travel 40 km to National Highway 18 and then turn around to National Highway 10.
Ben Rung Bridge was officially opened and put into use from 0:00 on July 18.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said: In recent years, Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh province have had strong economic development indexes, ranked among the top in the country.
Recently, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh are investing in building 3 large bridges to connect the two localities, namely Lai Xuan, Da Bac and Bach Dang bridges.
The convoy of Quang Ninh province leaders crossed Ben Rung bridge this afternoon.
“The Ben Rung Bridge, when put into use, will improve traffic capacity, promote socio-economic development of both localities, and together with Hanoi, will form an important growth pole of the North and the whole country,” affirmed the Chairman of Hai Phong.
At the opening ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and leaders of National Assembly Committees; leaders of Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city cut the ribbon to officially open the project, creating new connections and opening new development opportunities for Quang Ninh - Hai Phong.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, Hai Phong residents excitedly drove up to the bridge to admire the bridge symbolizing the historic Bach Dang victory.
Ben Rung Bridge not only connects traffic, but also enhances attractiveness, competitiveness, promotes effective cooperation in logistics service supply chain operations and creates regional and inter-regional brands; ensures sustainability, harmony with the environment, and contributes positively to the overall development of the country.
