In the recent program “Knock on the Stars’ Door”, actor Quach Ngoc Tuyen confided about his difficult years pursuing art.
Coming from a poor family with no artistic tradition, Quach Ngoc Tuyen dreamed of appearing on television since he was a child, after having to go to a local theater to watch a play. He wanted to appear on television one day, making many people admire him and his parents proud.

So when he took the university entrance exam, he secretly took the entrance exam to the University of Theatre and Cinema. Only when he held the acceptance letter in his hand did the actor happily inform his family. Surprisingly, his family did not object, but Quach Ngoc Tuyen's parents also frankly told their son that the family did not have the financial means to let him pursue this career to gain connections. That was the path he chose himself, so whether it was hard or happy, he would have to accept it.
However, his mother encouraged him, saying that no one on either side of his family was active in the arts, so he had no choice but to try.
The actor admitted that it was only when he started his career that he realized how hard and difficult it was. Finding a role was not easy, and getting a job in a film crew was not easy either. Sometimes, the difficulties made him miserable, but he did not dare to cry, nor did he dare to tell his parents. He tried to work hard, doing everything he could to hope for success.
Later, he was accepted into the New Smile Theater, starting from supporting roles and extras. Only when he was on stage did the actor dare to invite his parents. Seeing their son being able to act and pursue his career, they felt somewhat reassured.
Quach Ngoc Tuyen is not ashamed to start from supporting roles.
“There was a game show that invited me to film with my mother. Working together, my mother saw the affection between colleagues in the profession. She told me that she was happy. After so many years of worrying, now seeing me being cared for by colleagues makes her worry less,” Quach Ngoc Tuyen choked up when talking about his mother’s affection.
Now, although he has started to have a certain position in the entertainment industry, “Mr. Vi Ca” affirms that he always cherishes the days of playing extra roles. He has never felt ashamed of that and always thanks his colleagues for supporting him.
Quach Ngoc Tuyen (red shirt) and actor Truong Giang once played supporting roles together on the drama stage.
In particular, one of the people who touched and made him most grateful was the late artist Huu Loc. Quach Ngoc Tuyen recalled that one day before Tet, artist Huu Loc suddenly asked him to prepare his belongings to go to a provincial performance together. At that time, Quach Ngoc Tuyen was very surprised because he could not believe that one day, he would be able to go to a provincial performance with his senior.
After the performance, artist Huu Loc gave his junior a thick envelope with a large amount of money. “That was an amount that I thought was impossible for a salary to be that high. I asked Mr. Loc why he gave me so much, and he told me to take it home for Tet. Later, I found out that it was his own money, because he wanted to help me have money to go home to celebrate Tet with my family,” the actor said.
Quach Ngoc Tuyen was born in 1984, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema. He is a drama actor at the New Smile stage.
The actor only really became more widely known for his role as Mr. Vi Ca in the web drama series "Vi Ca Prequel" which he produced and also played the main role.
His love story with Thao Han (born in 2000) was kept secret for many years, until 2019 when it was made public. In 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, Bao Ngu.
