On April 8 (Vietnam time), La Opinión newspaper reported that male singer Rubby Pérez is being treated in hospital after being injured in a ceiling collapse at the famous Jet Set nightclub in the Dominican Republic.
The incident occurred at around 2am, while he was performing at a traditional music night. The ceiling suddenly collapsed, turning the performance into a tragedy. According to initial statistics, at least 25 people were killed and 101 people were rescued, many of whom were seriously injured. The cause of the incident is still being actively investigated by authorities.
Rubby's brother - Eliezer Pérez - confirmed he was given first aid at the scene before being taken to the nearest hospital.

Rubby Pérez, born in 1956, is a famous merengue singer in the Dominican Republic. After graduating from the National Conservatory of Santo Domingo, he was active in musical groups such as The Youth of Bani and Los Hijos del Rey.
From 1982-1986, Rubby was the main vocalist in Wilfrido Vargas's orchestra, scoring a series of famous hits such as El Africano , Volveré and Cobarde Cobarde .
