Meaningful work

On the weekend of mid-March, the Hue Nursing and Care Center for the Meritorious (Thuan Hoa Ward, Phu Xuan District) was busier than usual with the presence of union members and youth.

Sharing the “Gratitude Meal” with the Youth Union members, Ms. Hoang Thi Kieu said: “We, the elderly, are deeply touched by the children’s visits, care and gifts. The care and encouragement of the younger generation is the most precious gift.”

Youth Union member Nguyen Thi Chi (Phu Xuan District Youth Union) confided: Taking care of the generation of fathers and grandfathers - those who sacrificed their youth to contribute to the cause of protecting the Fatherland is the responsibility of the younger generation. I myself am very proud to participate in such meaningful programs.

The above activity is part of the program "In lieu of gratitude" organized by Hue City Youth Union in coordination with Hue Today Newspaper Youth Union and some other units at Hue Nursing and Care Center for the Meritorious. Taking place on March 15 and 16, the program is a series of activities aimed at the meritorious people at the center, such as: cleaning the campus, cultural exchange and visiting, giving gifts... In addition, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union visited and gave gifts to 3 families of former youth volunteers who fought on the Tri Thien Hue battlefield.

One of the highlights of the program was the photo shoot and souvenir photo presentation of “Ageless Beauty” by photographer Le Dinh Hoang. “I thank Hue City Youth Union for organizing this meaningful program so that I have the opportunity to coordinate and join forces. Taking photos for the women at Hue Nursing Center for the Care of Meritorious People is a very memorable experience…”, Mr. Le Dinh Hoang shared.

Patriotic education for the young generation

According to information from the Hue City Youth Union, in addition to the above activities, in March this year, the City Youth Union also implemented a series of diverse and practical activities to educate the young generation about patriotism, revolutionary traditions, and national pride. At the same time, it promoted the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude" of the youth towards the generation of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.

The highlight is the special art program and candle lighting ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hue City Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Hue City Party Committee (April 1930 - April 2025) taking place at the Hue City Martyrs' Cemetery. In which, more than 1,500 young people were mobilized to participate in the incense offering and flower offering activities at Uncle Ho's Temple and candle lighting. The art program was also elaborately staged by a team of choreographers, singers and dancers as a profound gift of gratitude in the artistic language with songs that have gone through the years.

At the program, the City Youth Union also presented 50 restored martyrs' portraits to their relatives and dozens of gifts to policy families and children in difficult circumstances.

Secretary of the Hue City Youth Union Nguyen Thanh Hoai said that the 50 martyrs' portraits presented to relatives in March this year were only the first phase of the Journey to Restore Martyrs' Photos in Hue City in 2025. As planned, the program will restore more than 200 martyrs' portraits and continue to present them to their families on the occasion of the 78th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025) and the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), and the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

“Not only at the city level, the City Youth Union also directed the districts, towns, county unions and affiliated Youth Unions to develop plans to organize activities towards the 50th anniversary of Hue City Liberation Day and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Hue City Party Committee in accordance with the characteristics and situation of the locality and unit. From there, propagate and educate the younger generation about the revolutionary tradition, patriotism, national pride, dedication and sacrifice of heroic martyrs and people with meritorious services to the country”, Secretary of the City Youth Union Nguyen Thanh Hoai informed.
