Quang Yen is a land with a long-standing historical and cultural tradition. Over the years, the Quang Yen Town Literature and Arts Association has always maintained and promoted the creative tradition of artists on the historic land of Bach Dang River.
With many historical relics and traditional festivals, Quang Yen has long been an endless source of inspiration for literary and artistic works. The town's Literature and Arts Association was established very early (in 1970). Currently, the Association has a large force with 48 members, operating in 5 specialized committees including fine arts, photography, music, theater and performance, prose theory and criticism, poetry and folk arts committee.
Mr. Duong Van Hao, Vice Chairman of the Town People's Committee, said: Over the past years, the Town Party Committee and Government have always paid attention to the artists in the area. The Town has created favorable conditions in terms of facilities to support the artists' creations, arranged the Association's headquarters, created conditions for the Association to arrange permanent staff, provided regular funding and funding to support members' creations.
It is known that every year, Quang Yen Town organizes many cultural and artistic activities to create conditions for artists to have the opportunity to convey the value of new works to the public. At the same time, the Town's Literature and Arts Association also organizes annual exhibitions, performances and publications of works in the genres of literature, poetry, fine arts and photography, creating conditions for members to contribute to the socio-economic development of the town.
At the same time, the Town Literature and Arts Association also received much support and sponsorship from businesses, agencies, units, organizations and individuals in the area in the activities of composing, publishing exhibitions and performing literature and arts. Thanks to that, in recent years, members have created thousands of paintings, statues, and art photos, organized 40 fine arts and photography exhibitions in the town and participated in dozens of exhibitions in the province, the Red River Delta region, the Central region and internationally.
The artists whose paintings are regularly displayed are Vu Tu Khang, Dang Dinh Nguyen, Dao The Am, Nguyen Sy Chuyen, Dinh Thanh, etc. Some artists who regularly send paintings to "hunt" for prizes in competitions are Nguyen Sy Chuyen, Dang Dinh Nguyen, Dao The Am, Ha Quy Phong. Particularly, veteran artist Vu Tu Khang has published a photo book introducing all the outstanding paintings in his creative life.
Quang Yen art photography, besides the achievements of veteran photographers such as Tran Duc Suu and Dang Xuan Te, has authors whose photos are regularly exhibited such as Nguyen Thanh Tuy, Nguyen Anh Ngoc, Vu Tien Dung, Duong Van Toan, Nguyen Long Giang, Vu Van Thanh, Dao Duc Thoa, Tran Quang Nang...
Artists have published 41 poetry collections, nearly 10 collections of short stories and memoirs, 6 folk literature books, composed dozens of songs and published 2 music CD and DVD programs about Quang Yen town. At the same time, hundreds of mass art programs have been organized to serve political events and spiritual and cultural activities for the people of the town.
The literary field in Quang Yen in recent years has recorded the achievements of authors: Le Duy Thai, Le Huu Lich, Duong Phuong Toai, Doan Du Diep, Le Tin, Luong Liem, Huu Lung and recently young authors Duong Giao Linh, Cao Nguyet Nguyen, Do Thanh Hoa...
Along with that, folk art activities are also one of the strengths of Quang Yen literature and art. Some active members are: Le Dong Son, Ngo Dinh Dung, Pham Thanh Quyet. Members of the Quang Yen Dum Singing Club have actively collected, preserved and popularized dum singing melodies, folk songs, chants, etc. Many research works on collecting and studying folk art have been published in newspapers, magazines, and printed into books. The most prominent in this field is probably the author Le Dong Son with 5 books on Quang Yen culture that have been widely received by readers.
In the coming time, the Quang Yen Town Literature and Arts Association determined to continue organizing the fine art exhibitions "Yen Hung Painting Village", art photo exhibitions, Bach Dang River poetry nights, supporting members in publishing books, coordinating with the Department of Culture and Information, the Center for Communication - Culture and wards and communes to develop 12 art hobby clubs, opening music and painting classes for young people to create a source of new members.
