Vietnamese and Chinese youth continue ideals and foster friendship

Vietnam - China youth cooperation develops strongly

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Bui Quang Huy said: The 24th Vietnam - China Youth Friendship Meeting takes place in the context of the two countries' developing relations. The Parties and people of the two countries are constantly promoting activities to deepen and further enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a "Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" with the connotation of "6 more". Vietnam - China relations are entering a new stage of development, increasingly profound, comprehensive and substantive. In 2025, the two sides announced the launch of the Vietnam - China Year of Humanitarian Exchange, thereby emphasizing the importance of strengthening friendly exchange activities between the two peoples, contributing to consolidating a more solid social foundation for bilateral relations.

According to Mr. Bui Quang Huy, the young generation has always received special attention and expectations from the leaders of the two Parties and countries as a force with the ambition to follow in the footsteps of previous generations, inherit the tradition of friendship, and bring strong vitality and a bright future to the Vietnam-China relationship.

"Deeply aware of that, over the years, the Youth Union organizations of the two countries have promoted the strong development of Vietnam - China youth cooperation and achieved many results.

Training programs, youth exchanges, and youth cooperation forums have created opportunities for thousands of young people from both countries to better understand each other’s culture, traditions, and customs. This not only helps strengthen friendship, but also contributes to developing personal relationships and friendships between the two countries’ young generations, opening up opportunities for cooperation in study, research, work, production, and business.

Cooperation between the two countries' youth also helps raise awareness and the ability to solve global issues such as climate change, environmental protection and promote peace and stability in the region. The youth of the two countries, with their dynamism, creativity and enthusiasm, are playing a good role as "young cultural ambassadors", connecting the friendship between the two countries, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the region and the world," said Mr. Bui Quang Huy.

"The activities of the Youth Unions of the two countries have been, are and will continue to be a bridge of friendship connecting the youth and people of Vietnam and China, bringing practical results to the young generations of the two countries. These activities not only contribute to fostering the traditional friendship between the youth and people of the two countries but also play an important role in promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China to develop stably, healthily and sustainably," Mr. Bui Quang Huy emphasized.

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth Union, at the meeting on the afternoon of April 13, Comrade A Dong and I discussed and agreed that in the coming time, both sides need to strongly implement specific contents such as:

It is necessary to continue to closely follow the common high-level awareness of strengthening and innovating propaganda and education work for the young generation of the two countries about the traditional friendship between the two Parties and two countries and the development achievements of each country, thereby enhancing the pride and confidence of the youth.

Promote the good implementation of signed agreements, expand and deepen more practical forms of exchange and cooperation in the fields of education, culture, volunteering, arts, sports, communications, science and technology, economics and trade.

Promote the implementation of practical and effective youth exchange and cooperation programs, especially in the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025", contributing to consolidating a more solid social foundation between the two countries. At the same time, focus on close coordination within the framework of international youth forums, contributing to promoting the role of youth diplomacy in consolidating the trend of peace, cooperation and development.

Together, research and exploit "red" sites and relics in both Vietnam and China, design and organize meaningful activities specifically for the youth of the two countries to gain a deeper understanding of the mutual revolutionary process between the two Parties and two countries.

Shouldering national responsibility, inheriting friendship

A Dong, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, said: The world is changing, the times are changing, and history is opening unprecedented pages. The world is entering a period of profound transformation. Where will the future of the world go? What should we, the young people, do?

"Young people should not only be the ones asking questions but also the ones answering those questions, shouldering national responsibilities. Chinese and Vietnamese youth should be people with noble ideals, maintaining faith, strengthening solidarity, holding hands, portraying the portrait of youth under the bright flag of ideals, recording the heroic history of the times. We need to be the ones inheriting the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam so that the flame of friendship continues to burn brightly in the hearts of the youth of the two countries," he said.

After the opening ceremony, delegates attended the Youth Forum of the two countries with the theme “Vietnamese and Chinese Youth: Firmly upholding ideals”. Delegates exchanged and shared experiences on the key points in propaganda and education work for the youth of the two countries; the role and responsibility of Vietnamese and Chinese youth in steadfastly and creatively applying the path of national independence associated with socialism in the current context. At the same time, they contributed solutions to innovate content and methods, improve the effectiveness of political and ideological education for union members and youth; study and follow the ideology of the leaders of the two Parties.

The 24th Vietnam - China Youth Friendship Meeting program lasted from April 12 to 18 with many practical activities, contributing to enhancing exchange, understanding and cooperation between the young generations of the two countries.
