On Joe Rogan's podcast on November 5, guest Elon Musk discussed many issues such as video games, acquiring Twitter... But when asked about the rumor of making a phone, Elon Musk immediately denied it.
Tesla CEO said: although it has an advantage over many companies in creating new smartphones, this is not something the company wants, unless forced.
The eventuality Musk mentioned is if Apple and Google start censoring apps or acting as “gatekeepers.” For now, the company is all in on electric cars, self-driving cars, and robots.
Previously, in a livestream on social network X in June, Musk also announced that Tesla would not make phones. However, two days later (June 11), he said that X joining hands with another smartphone brand to produce phones was "not impossible".
And recently, Facebook account - Haley Fox posted an article with the content Musk affirmed "Tesla Phone $ 299 will be the end of iPhone", the article attracted more than 26,000 interactions. After that, the article was marked as fake news and removed.
According to independent fact-checking organization PolitiFact, it has not found any sources to corroborate the claim that Musk said this. It does not appear in any credible news or public statements from Musk or Tesla. Neither phone appears on Tesla's website."
