The Spanish Ministry of Defense has just issued a statement confirming the delivery of Patriot missiles to Ukraine; at the same time, it announced the provision of many armored vehicles and Leopard tanks to this Eastern European country.

Earlier the same day, El Pais newspaper quoted a government source as saying that Spain had agreed to transfer a small number of Patriot missiles to Ukraine under pressure from allies in the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to transfer more military aid to Kiev.
Following a call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, EU governments have been urged to provide Kiev with more needed defence systems, especially countries like Spain and Greece – which already have them in their arsenals.
However, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said Athens could not provide Ukraine with such systems because they were “crucial to our deterrence”.
