BTO-The Provincial Agricultural Extension Center has just organized an online training conference on sustainable rice cultivation processes.
The training session at the provincial Agricultural Extension Center was chaired by Mr. Ngo Thai Son - Deputy Director in charge of the Center; technical departments; members of the Steering Committee for Rice Development. Attending the online training session were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Ve - Can Tho University, representatives of key rice-growing districts of the province including Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Tanh Linh, Duc Linh; a number of community agricultural extension groups; cooperatives and rice farmers in the localities.
At the training course, delegates were presented by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Bao Ve on the sustainable rice cultivation process, including the effective sprouting and nurturing stages and prevention of organic poisoning for rice plants. Through the training session, delegates, members of community agricultural extension groups, cooperatives and rice farmers in the province can master each stage of growth and development of rice plants. From there, they can practice the sustainable organic rice cultivation process well, bringing the highest productivity and profit after each harvest, contributing to improving the lives of farmers.
It is known that Binh Thuan is a locality with strengths in agricultural production. Currently, the agricultural sector plays a very important role in the socio-economic development of the province. However, in the past, rice cultivation in the province has been concentrated on increasing productivity for many years, so inorganic fertilizers, chemical pesticides, burying straw in the fields or burning fields... Thereby increasing emissions of gases and water vapor causing the greenhouse effect. Therefore, sustainable organic rice cultivation, applying advanced technology and mechanization is a new direction in agriculture. The purpose is to reduce emissions of gases that pollute the environment and create conditions for Vietnam to participate in the carbon credit market in the future.
According to the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, the process of sustainable organic rice cultivation must ensure the correct procedures with the criteria "1 must 5 reductions": Must use certified rice varieties, reduce the amount of seeds sown; reduce inorganic fertilizers; reduce spraying of chemical pesticides; reduce the amount of irrigation water and reduce post-harvest losses.
