On October 9, at a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first 9 months, Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province - said that Adani Group (India) and Vietjet are studying the feasibility of investing in Chu Lai airport.
Adani Group and Vietjet are conducting pre-feasibility studies
Answering the question of whether any enterprises have invested in building Chu Lai airport in the direction of socialization, Mr. Dung said that in 2022 the province had a working session with the Prime Minister.
Then the Government Office announced the Prime Minister's conclusion No. 135 agreeing in principle to research investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport in the form of socialization.
And assign the Ministry of Transport to set up a working group to study and handle the province's proposal on the project of socializing investment and exploitation of this airport, and propose a report to the competent authority for consideration and decision.
According to Mr. Dung, up to now, no business has officially invested, only a few investors came to research, found it too difficult so stopped.
Recently, after the Prime Minister's visit and work in India, India's Adani Group and Vietjet are studying investment in this airport, but this is only a pre-feasibility study.
"If the research shows that the conditions are sufficient, they will continue to propose. If the conditions are sufficient, the Ministry of Transport will advise the Government to agree, then they will continue," said Mr. Dung.
According to him, Chu Lai airport is considered one of the three largest airports in the country today in terms of area, because there are still more than 2,000 hectares of clean land.
"This is the most favorable condition for investing in this airport to become an international airport, especially the largest cargo transit point in the country," said Mr. Dung.

Quang Nam is ready to welcome investors
Mr. Le Van Dung said that currently, this airport is just a policy, then further proposals, many problems need to be resolved. If later the Central Government agrees to allow investment in the direction of socialization, of course it must be done in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The province is ready to welcome investors, anyone who has the opportunity to invest is welcome. The spirit of the provincial leadership is to try to propose to the Central Government to socialize investment in this airport.
"If we don't invest in building this airport, it will be a waste. If we do, the province will develop well, so we must be determined," Mr. Dung added.
In the period 2021 - 2030, Chu Lai airport is planned to become an international airport, a level 4F airport, with an expected design capacity of 10 million passengers/year.
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on July 31, beginning his state visit to India, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group - India's largest corporation specializing in infrastructure and energy.
Regarding the implementation of the airport project, the Prime Minister suggested that investors should choose “with a focus”, prioritizing investment in Chu Lai airport, because this airport has the advantage of being conveniently connected to three major national highways. The airport also has 1,200 hectares of land ready and will be an international airport after moving Da Nang International Airport here.
