(Fatherland) - On the morning of December 19, the "Asian Cultural Cooperation and Strategy Forum - VICAS - Zuni: The role of higher education" co-organized by Zuni Icosahedron (Hong Kong, China) and the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) opened in Hanoi.
The Forum was co-chaired by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies and Dr. Danny Yung, Founder of Zuni Icosahedron.

The Forum aims to strengthen the artistic and cultural ties between Hong Kong, China and countries in the Asian region by promoting cooperation among experts, scientists, cultural managers, art creators and practitioners... Thereby, creating a solid foundation for cooperation and sustainable development in the region, through sharing experiences, discussing policies and building strategic partnerships.
In her welcoming speech at the Forum, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong, Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, said that cultural development, especially arts education and training in Vietnam, is making more sustainable progress. The Forum was attended by many speakers, experts, scientists, cultural and educational managers, and famous art creators and practitioners in Asia and Vietnam, to discuss current outstanding issues related to the topic of education and training of cultural and artistic human resources in Asia, including Vietnam.
For the development of culture and arts in the Asian region and in Zuni's relationship with Vietnamese research institutions, the focus is on promoting the development of education, raising awareness, sharing knowledge on issues related to education and training in the arts. The meeting of Zuni and VICAS will bring positive effects.
"The forum does not stop at common awareness and common understanding, but will set out specific plans for long-term cooperation between VICAS and Zuni. We have had a good and meaningful start. In the future, how will we cooperate, will have more solid steps in art training, create valuable art projects, have resonance in the country and the region" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong expressed.
Overview of the Forum
Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Dr. Danny Yung, founder of Zuni Icosahedron, said that the meeting between VICAS and Zuni will bring about positive effects. The Forum not only helps to create common understanding in art education and training, but also sets out specific plans for long-term cooperation in the future.
The discussions at the Forum focused on promoting the role of education in enhancing understanding with Asian countries. Because the cultural industries are shifting with stronger development in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia.
The Forum aims to strengthen the artistic and cultural ties between Hong Kong, China and countries in the Asian region by promoting cooperation among experts, scientists, cultural managers, creators and practitioners of the arts.
Opinions at the Forum showed that cultural industry, cultural diplomacy and cultural startups are receiving increasing attention in countries. Many incentive and support policies have been introduced, promoting this process. In particular, the development of digital technology has created new breakthroughs, opening up unlimited creative and connecting spaces for artists and cultural enterprises. However, there are also many challenges, such as: balancing business, profit and cultural and artistic values, accessing cultural resources and building strategies to achieve the highest efficiency, developing cultural and artistic human resources, etc.
The forum will take place until December 20, with four discussion sessions: Developing cultural startups and networking; Developing a strategy for human resources in culture and arts; Towards an ASEAN-wide cultural and arts strategy network; and Planning for the next steps.
