Strengthening people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and China

On the morning of September 22, in the capital Dhaka, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received President of the Bangladesh - Vietnam Friendship Association Shamsher M. Chowdhury, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure at meeting Mr. Shamsher M. Chowdhury and members of the association's Board of Directors, friends of the Vietnamese people. Emphasizing that the association's Board of Directors includes many people who have held the positions of Minister, Deputy Minister, former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam, and some are leaders of the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, etc., National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue stated that this shows that the Bangladesh - Vietnam Friendship Association is very strong. The launch of the association in early 2023 is an important milestone, contributing to enhancing understanding and promoting friendship between the people of the two countries in particular as well as contributing to the development of the Vietnam - Bangladesh friendship and cooperation in general.

Emphasizing that over the past 50 years, the greatest and most valuable asset is the friendship between the people of the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his hope that a new chapter in the bilateral relationship in the next 50 years will be written at a higher level, more effectively, and the people will play a decisive role.

The National Assembly Chairman said that after the visit, he will direct the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to coordinate with the Bangladesh-Vietnam Friendship Association in cooperation activities; and at the same time consider the establishment of the Vietnam-Bangladesh Friendship Association.

For his part, Chairman Shamsher M. Chowdhury welcomed National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on his official visit to Bangladesh on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973 - 2023); saying that the relationship between the two countries is not only developing strongly but also has a long history, with many similarities in the struggle for national liberation.

Mr. Shamsher M. Chowdhury said that Bangladesh was the first country in South Asia to recognize and establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level with the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. Expressing his emotion and admiration for the heroic fighting spirit of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national liberation, he said that the slogan of action when he was a student was: "Your name, my name, our name, Vietnam! Vietnam!". As the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam, he was delighted to witness with his own eyes the strong development and rise of Vietnam. Currently, Vietnam is one of the countries with an important role in the Pacific - Indian Ocean region.

Mr. Chowdhury emphasized that along with contributing to strengthening political, diplomatic, economic relations, etc., the official visit to Bangladesh by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is an opportunity to strengthen the friendship and cooperation, people-to-people exchange between the two countries, so that the people of Bangladesh can share good values ​​with the people of Vietnam.

In a sincere and warm atmosphere, President Shamsher M. Chowdhury said that in the near future, the Bangladesh - Vietnam Friendship Association will propose to the Bangladesh Government to name a street after President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Dhaka.

Appreciating the association's initiative, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that if the above proposal is successful, it will be of great significance; at the same time, he expressed his agreement that the friendship association will coordinate with the two countries' Friendship Parliamentarian Groups to promote people-to-people exchanges.

Appreciating the activities of the Bangladesh-Vietnam Friendship Association in recent times, the National Assembly Chairman also suggested that the association contribute to enhancing trade and investment promotion activities by introducing and creating conditions for Vietnamese and Bangladeshi enterprises to learn about the market and connect, thereby contributing to enhancing people-to-people exchanges; supporting the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh to increasingly integrate and make contributions to the local society./.
