On February 15, a representative of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that information was circulating on social media about a man in a black shirt who could "interfere" with the traffic light system at the Khuat Duy Tien - Thang Long Avenue intersection (Nam Tu Liem District), causing public confusion.

Hanoi Traffic Police Department confirmed that the above information is false and baseless, because the traffic light system operated by the unit is a closed system, strictly confidential.

"Adjusting the light cycle can only be done through the computer at the Traffic Control Center, it cannot be interfered with by external devices.

On the other hand, the technical cabinet of the lighting system is reinforced for safety and only serves maintenance, repair, and cannot adjust the lighting cycle," added a representative of the Traffic Police Department.

A representative of the Traffic Police Department added that spreading false information not only causes misunderstandings but also affects the work of ensuring traffic order and safety.

"Recently, on social networks, there has been a lot of sensational information, clickbait or quoting, providing one-sided, incomplete, misleading information... Therefore, when accessing information on social networks, people need to be alert, verify, and not post or share false information," a representative of the Traffic Police Department advised.

In addition, when discovering information with false content or distorting the truth, people need to immediately report it to the authorities for handling according to the provisions of the law.
