Mr Attal broke the record for the youngest prime minister in France. The previous record was held by Laurent Fabius, who was 37 when he was appointed prime minister in 1984 by President Francois Mitterrand of France from 1981 to 1995.
Mr. Attal joined the Socialist Party when he was 17. He became a household name in French politics after being appointed as the French government spokesman during the pandemic. He was then appointed as the French Minister of Public Works and Accountancy in 2022 and the French Minister of Education in 2023.
Mr Attal's first move after being appointed French education minister last year was to ban the Muslim abaya in public schools, winning him support from many conservative voters despite coming from the left.
New Prime Minister Attal recently appeared on a popular TV show to tell the story of how he was bullied by a former classmate in secondary school, who he said embarrassed him on a blog created to rate the physical fitness of his classmates.
Mr Attal is one of the most popular politicians in France according to recent polls. The new French Prime Minister is known for his wisdom and open-mindedness in his public radio shows.
