At noon in early October, Mrs. Le Thi Ngo (85 years old, An Bang residential group, Song Ve town, Tu Nghia district, Quang Ngai) was alone cooking. She said that since Duyen went to school, the house had become empty. One day, when she woke up, she called out to her grandchild, then remembered that Duyen had left home to go to school more than a month ago.
She had 12 children, but only Duyen's mother was abnormal. Every day she wandered around the village, and Mrs. Ngo had to work hard to find her.
18 years ago, Mrs. Ngo saw her child's belly growing bigger, she thought she must be sick so she took her to the doctor, the doctor said she was pregnant. "I was shocked when I heard what the doctor said. How could she be crazy to be pregnant?" Mrs. Ngo confided. At this point, Mrs. Ngo sighed, old age makes sitting for a long time tiring, she quickly lay down on the hammock, rubbing her forehead.
The day Duyen was born, Mrs. Ngo could never forget. She held her newborn grandchild and said to Duyen's mother: "Here's your baby, what should I name him?". Duyen's mother looked at her in bewilderment, Mrs. Ngo understood that she could not "awaken" her child's spirit.

Duyen grew up very understanding, always helping her grandmother with everything. Besides going to school, when she has free time, Duyen looks for extra jobs, from serving at coffee shops, milk tea shops, to crocheting flowers, shipping goods, selling clothes...
There was a day when the family had no money to go to the market, and her grandmother was sick and had no money to buy medicine. The feeling of helplessness overwhelmed Duyen, and on the way home from school, tears just kept flowing. She consoled herself, reassured herself, and looked for a job to earn money.
Duyen was a good student, bringing home certificates of merit every year, which made Mrs. Ngo very happy. Her academic achievements for 12 consecutive years were excellent and advanced. She was an excellent student at the school level in history, geography and physics for all 3 years of high school. Duyen was also the secretary of the Youth Union with excellent achievements in the Youth Union movement at high school and was admitted to the Party at school.
But the day Duyen passed the university entrance exam, she was stuck, not knowing where to get money to take care of her grandchild.
Sometimes Mrs. Ngo said: "Why don't you quit school and find a job? I'm old and don't have enough money." Duyen begged: "Please help me borrow money to pay for my tuition. When I go to school, I'll try to work part-time to support myself." She advised her to quit school, but Mrs. Ngo confessed that even if Duyen really quit, she wouldn't let that happen.
"Before Duyen went to school, I borrowed money from the neighborhood and my children to help pay her tuition," said Ms. Ngo.
Duyen went to school, her 85-year-old grandmother lived alone in a small house in the countryside. Recently, the weather changed and she fell ill and could not breathe. She was worried that in 4 years, Duyen would graduate and would not be alive to see her grandchild's university degree.
"I recently called to ask if my nephew still had money, and he said he did. But I'm planning to pay tuition and rent, so where would I get the money? He probably knows I'm old and can't make any money, so he said he still has money so I don't have to worry," Mrs. Ngo mused.

Not afraid of pressure, just pray that she lives long enough to take care of her
In Quy Nhon City, Duyen rented a room with a friend. If she could arrange her time, Duyen would work part-time to cover all her tuition fees. Entering university, Duyen was also trusted as the class's Youth Union secretary.
Duyen said that she knew her situation well so she wanted to study pedagogy to save on tuition. But this year the pedagogy score was too high so Duyen chose economics - Quy Nhon University.
"I think all the difficulties I've gone through are big enough for me to face the pressures of the next four years of school. At least I'm older now and can do more work. As long as I try my best, no difficulty can stop me," Duyen confided.
"She is the pillar of my life. I hope she stays healthy until I graduate and find a job to take care of her. She has raised me all my life, I hope God will give me the opportunity to take care of her," Duyen said.

During the scholarship award ceremony on October 9, Kim Duyen had never tasted her mother's milk since she was born. Her grandmother was the one who raised Duyen, acting as both a father and a mother to take care of Duyen in life.
"What I want most is to succeed soon, graduate and have a job to support my grandmother. She is the motivation for me to overcome all difficulties," Duyen said.
The program gave Duyen a surprise gift, which was a clip recording Duyen's grandmother's message to her granddaughter. Seeing her grandmother's gentle figure, Duyen burst into tears. The host could not hold back his tears either, hugged the little girl, and encouraged her.
