(Dan Tri) - Unlike the previous Tet holiday when he was a student, Dao Nguyen Nhat Linh (born in 2001) celebrated Tet for the first time with only 9 days, following the State's holiday regime.
When she was a student at Hanoi University of Procuracy, after each final exam, Dao Nguyen Nhat Linh often returned home early to celebrate Tet. With a distance of more than 1,000km from school to home, Nhat Linh always eagerly awaited the longest holiday of the year to return home to reunite with her family.
2024 is a year of great success for Nhat Linh when she was honored to be the valedictorian of the Procuracy Law major - Hanoi University of Procuracy, with a total GPA of 3.53/4.0.
Nhat Linh confided: "When I was a student, my Tet holiday usually lasted 2-3 weeks, sometimes even up to a month. This was always my favorite time of the year because I could return home to reunite with my family after months of studying away from home.
This year, Tet is more special for me because I have become a civil servant. Because of the holidays according to the schedule of civil servants, public employees, and officials, I only have 9 days off for Tet.
Although I feel a bit regretful, I understand that this is something everyone has to go through on their journey to adulthood."
After graduating from university, Linh focused on studying for the civil service exam. Thanks to her efforts, Linh passed the specialist position at the Lam Dong Provincial People's Procuracy.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter about the reason for choosing the prosecutorial profession, Nhat Linh said that this was the orientation from her parents. Initially, Linh had difficulty adapting to the learning environment, especially reading and researching legal documents that were not suitable for her strengths.
Linh even thought about switching to another major, but thanks to her parents' encouragement, Linh tried hard and achieved many impressive results.
"In the first days of work, I couldn't help but feel anxious because this was a special step in my journey.
However, when working at the Lam Dong Provincial People's Procuracy, I was fortunate to receive enthusiastic help and guidance from my colleagues. Thanks to that, I gradually felt more fond of and attached to this job," Linh recalled.
In the days leading up to Tet, the spring atmosphere filled Nhat Linh's office. Everyone gathered together to decorate the lobby for Tet, creating a warm atmosphere. Linh also received lucky money and gifts from her uncles, aunts, and colleagues, making Linh feel that the "shortened" Tet compared to her student days became more meaningful and not as sad as before.
In previous years, every Tet holiday, Linh often cleaned the house with her family, made jam and participated in meaningful Tet preparation activities. However, this year is the first Tet since becoming a civil servant, Linh missed those familiar moments. She shared: "I feel a bit regretful that I cannot prepare Tet with my family like before, but I am happy to still be able to return home after a long time away."
Looking back at 2024, Nhat Linh realized that this year marked two important stages in her life: before and after getting a job. In the first half of the year, Linh focused on studying and reviewing for the civil service exam.
After being admitted, Linh's life completely changed when she moved from student to civil servant. Linh shared: "In 2024, I feel very lucky to have a job that suits my major. This has given me many opportunities to practice to improve myself and become more mature in my work."
Closing a memorable journey of the excellent valedictorian of Hanoi University of Procuracy, Nhat Linh plans to continue to complete her current job well and prepare for her graduate studies in 2025.
