Teacher Nguyen Huu Hiep, Cu Pui Secondary School (Krong Bong District, Dak Lak Province) said that he has worked in a remote commune for many years. The story of Tet bonuses is always a concern, but he is quite hesitant to talk about this issue. Teacher Hiep said that usually at the end of the year, he and the teachers in the school will receive 300,000 VND or 500,000 VND/person, depending on the annual regulations of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee.
In addition, if the school saves on regular expenses during the year, each teacher will have a little extra money. Some years he gets an extra 1 million VND, some years he doesn't. That's the money Mr. Hiep receives every Tet holiday.
Mr. Hiep thinks the above amount is too low, because teachers also work and dedicate themselves all year round. When Tet comes, teachers also face many expenses, no different from other professions. "The amount of bonus given by the industry is the same amount that teachers receive. I also feel a little worried when I see other industries giving bonuses for the Lunar New Year, Solar New Year and 13th month salary," Mr. Hiep shared.

Therefore, Mr. Hiep hopes that the State needs to study the Tet bonus for teachers. Somehow, at the end of the year, teachers will have some money to cover their living expenses. For Mr. Hiep, having more Tet bonus makes teachers happier and more excited. Otherwise, teachers are not too concerned. Because talking too much about money is not good.
In Lam Dong province, Mr. Nhu Van Ba, Principal of Tan Thanh 2 Primary School (Lam Ha district) said that for many years now, teachers at the school have not received a Tet bonus. However, teachers will have an additional income from the school's savings approved by the district at the beginning of the year. This money is calculated based on each teacher's 2024 competition performance.
“The school has many contract teachers, so the average additional income at the end of this year is 3 million VND/person. In early July 2024, we learned about Decree 73/2024 of the Government on the bonus regime based on work performance and the results of the assessment and classification of the level of completion of annual tasks. But up to now, the school has not seen the competent authority disseminate it,” Mr. Ba shared.
