"The male student who beat his friend was suspended from school for 2 weeks, his conduct grade was reduced in the first semester, and his learning process will continue to be monitored to assess his progress in the second semester; the male student who was beaten will also have his conduct grade reduced for 1 month. As for the students who filmed the clip and stood by to watch, they will be suspended from school for 1 week, and their conduct grade will be reduced to average in the first semester," said Mr. Hoang.
According to Mr. Hoang, the beaten male student had to stop going to school but was still accompanied by teachers to follow the curriculum with his friends.
As VTC News reported, on the evening of October 29, a 15-second clip recording a male student beating up a classmate in a classroom setting was posted on social media.
The male student who beat his friend was wearing a gym shirt from Dong Da Secondary School and a red scarf around his neck. According to the clip, the male student was beating him while continuously swearing, choking him, and hitting him on the head.
Specifically, the incident occurred in class 9A5, after the end of the 4th period on the morning of October 25. The cause is said to be a conflict over picking up money.
At the time of the incident, there were no supervisors or teachers around, so they could not intervene. When the incident was discovered, the school asked the two male students to write a report and invited their parents to the school. Immediately after, the school invited the two parents to the school. The party who beat their friend apologized, agreed to pay compensation, and was accepted by the beaten party.
