(CLO) On Sunday morning, a Turkish Health Ministry ambulance helicopter crashed while trying to land on the roof of a hospital in Türkiye's Mugla province. The accident killed four people, including two pilots, a doctor and a paramedic.
The Airbus H135, a twin-engine helicopter widely used in ambulance missions by the Turkish Ministry of Health, crashed while landing at the Sıtkı Koçman Training and Research Hospital. According to initial information, the helicopter was unable to land safely and collided with the upper floors of the hospital building before falling to the ground.
The crash occurred in dense fog, which affected the pilot’s ability to locate and approach the scene. Debris from the helicopter was scattered around the area outside the hospital, while ambulances and emergency crews rushed to the scene to assist. However, despite immediate rescue efforts, all four people on board died.

The governor of the Mugla region, Idris Akbiyik, said the accident is under investigation. Authorities will look into a number of factors, including weather conditions, the technical condition of the helicopter and the pilot's landing procedures. Although no one in the hospital or on the ground was injured, the accident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about the safety of helicopter ambulances.
The Airbus H135 helicopter, designed by Airbus Helicopters, is a twin-engine helicopter used for a variety of missions, including medical transport and emergency evacuation. The H135 can reach speeds of up to 258 km/h and has a range of 635 km.
The Turkish Ministry of Health operates a fleet of 14 H135s deployed in major cities such as Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir and many other areas across the country for medical emergency and evacuation missions.
