Boiled eggs are one of the most popular ways to prepare eggs. Not only are they convenient, boiled eggs can also do important things for your cholesterol levels, especially for those with high cholesterol.

To learn more about the potential cholesterol-related benefits of boiled eggs, Dr. Chris Mohr, a famous American fitness and nutrition consultant, will share the reasons why boiled eggs are great for maintaining or reducing blood cholesterol levels, according to the health news site Health Digest .

Boiling eggs is a healthy way to prepare eggs.

Boiled eggs are better for cholesterol levels

Dr. Mohr explains that boiling eggs does not use any additional fats like oil or butter, which are often used when frying. Furthermore, this method of cooking preserves the nutrients in the eggs, making for a nutritious meal.

Boiling eggs ensures that they do not add extra cholesterol to your diet. However, frying eggs will increase the amount of cholesterol or unhealthy saturated fat.

Reduce the risk of cholesterol oxidation in eggs

According to Dr. Mohr, boiling also offers another benefit: Boiling eggs uses a lower temperature than frying, so the eggs are not directly exposed to heat, which helps reduce cholesterol oxidation.

As for cholesterol oxidation, Dr. Mohr explains it involves low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. According to Healthline , this is considered “bad” cholesterol because when it’s oxidized, it’s more likely to stick to the inside of your arteries. Over time, oxidized cholesterol can cause your arteries to narrow, making it harder for blood to flow through them.

Boiling eggs only requires exposure to a moderate amount of heat for a short period of time, so the cholesterol in eggs is less likely to be oxidized, thereby causing less cardiovascular problems later on.

Boiled eggs can also help control cholesterol.

How to eat the perfect boiled egg

Dr. Mohr suggests having hard-boiled eggs with whole-grain bread for a high-fiber meal that can help regulate blood sugar. The Mayo Clinic notes that adding 5 to 10 grams of fiber a day has also been shown to lower bad cholesterol.

To add more fiber and nutrients to your hard-boiled eggs, Dr. Mohr suggests: Add leafy greens like spinach or kale for essential vitamins. A few slices of avocado provide healthy fats and fiber. You can also add tomatoes and bell peppers to the dish for extra flavor and vitamins, according to Health Digest.
