The team of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCM) has decided to return to the student football field when there is a convincing reason to participate in the TNSV THACO Cup 2024. The team is currently led by coach Nguyen Van Tuan, a former player of Saigon Port Club, with a completely new squad of players, mostly first and second year students. Only player Hoang Quoc Phong (15), the team captain, is a third year student.

Considered an unknown when drawing lots for the Ho Chi Minh City region qualifying round, there was a very strong Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) team, along with the University of Economics and Law and the Vietnam Aviation Academy team that participated in the first season. The University of Technology (VNU-HCM) team showed its strong potential through 3 qualifying matches, all of which were wins. Of which, they won against HUTECH with a score of 1-0 on the opening day of January 6, won against Vietnam Aviation Academy with a score of 4-1 on January 11 and won against the University of Economics and Law with a score of 6-1 on January 15 to get a worthy place in the play-off round.

The guidance of Coach Nguyen Van Tuan with his good professional vision has helped the players of the University of Technology (VNU-HCM) play better and better. In particular, they are the team that often scores goals within the first 5 minutes of each match, including the fastest goal in the TNSV tournament in just the first 10 seconds scored by player Vien Nguyen Dinh Quy (8) in the match against HUTECH with a score of 1-0.
