The way coach Kim Sang-sik called up the national team in the above direction is to always have personnel available to replace each other when needed. When each position has at least 2 different people in charge, the Vietnamese team will not be passive when a player is injured or is predicted by the opponent.

First, in the goalkeeper position, Nguyen Filip will most likely play officially. The substitute for Nguyen Filip is Nguyen Dinh Trieu. This is one of the most stable goalkeepers in the V-League, throughout the 2023-2024 season until the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. Dinh Trieu has been frequently called up to the national team in recent times, so he does not lack international experience. In addition, in terms of performance, Nguyen Dinh Trieu is in better form than Dang Van Lam, the goalkeeper who was just eliminated from the AFF Cup list.

Nguyen Filip and Nguyen Dinh Trieu (number 21) will be two reliable stoppers in the goal of the Vietnamese team at the AFF Cup 2024.

In the defense, Mr. Kim Sang-sik called up 5 center backs, including Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Nguyen Thanh Chung and Do Duy Manh. Including Ho Tan Tai who can play center back when needed, the Vietnam team currently has 6 players who can play the role of center back. Normally, under coach Kim Sang-sik, the team will play with 3 center backs. Therefore, the number of players who can play the role of center back is now twice as many as the number of center backs who usually appear on the field at the same time (6 compared to 3).

In the right-back position, there are 3 players who specialize in this wing, including Vu Van Thanh, Pham Xuan Manh and Ho Tan Tai. On the left wing, Nguyen Van Vi is the player who specializes in this wing the most. In addition, before the AFF Cup, Khuat Van Khang was also tested several times in the left-back position. Not to mention that when needed, Van Thanh and Xuan Manh can also be transferred to the left wing of the defense. Therefore, the Vietnamese team does not worry about lacking people in the above mentioned position.

The Vietnam national team currently has many quality players in the full-back position.

Above the defense, we currently have 4 central midfielders including Nguyen Hoang Duc, Chau Ngoc Quang, Le Pham Thanh Long and Doan Ngoc Tan. Coach Kim Sang-sik usually uses a formation with 2 central midfielders. Therefore, the number of central midfielders registered is twice the number of players who usually appear on the field at the same time.

Even in the extremely difficult position of organizing midfielder, the Vietnamese team is currently lucky to have two excellent players, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Hoang Duc, while for other teams, finding a midfielder of this type is very difficult.

As for the forward line, after the naturalized foreign player Nguyen Xuan Son was called up to the AFF Cup squad, the Vietnamese team has at least two very dangerous strikers, including Nguyen Xuan Son and Nguyen Tien Linh. Normally, in the most recent matches, coach Kim Sang-sik only arranged one striker in the starting lineup, meaning the team now has double the number of strikers used at each point of the match.

Xuan Son is definitely the most anticipated face on the attack line.

The remaining strikers include Nguyen Van Toan, Bui Vi Hao, Pham Tuan Hai and Dinh Thanh Binh, who usually play as second strikers. The number of second strikers in our squad is now double the number of players who are usually in the starting lineup for each match.
