Over the first few months of the year, the business situation of female leaders of listed enterprises has recorded many mixed developments.

VietJet Air, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao: Profits skyrocketed 212%

In the first 3 months of this year, after a difficult and gloomy 2023, the aviation industry in general received many recovery drivers, especially during the 2 major holidays (Lunar New Year and the 5-day holiday from April 30 to May 1), people's travel and tourism needs increased dramatically. Thanks to that, the net revenue of VietJet Air (VJC, HOSE) increased by 37% over the same period, reaching VND 17,792 billion.

In addition, corporate income tax expenses decreased by 21%, helping VJC increase its after-tax profit by 212% compared to the same period last year, reaching VND539.1 billion.

In addition to being Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of VietJet Air, she is also the Permanent Vice Chairwoman of HDBank (HDB, HOSE). Like VJC, HDB recorded a positive growth trend in the first quarter, with after-tax profit increasing by nearly 50% over the same period.

But unable to avoid the general trend of the banking industry, bad debt at HDB also increased last quarter, the bad debt ratio increased to 2.2%, up 0.4% compared to the end of last year, forcing HDB to increase costs for credit risk provisions.

Vinh Hoan Corporation, Chairwoman Truong Thi Le Khanh: Revenue increased, profit still decreased

Last quarter, "catfish queen" Truong Thi Le Khanh and Vinh Hoan (VHC, HOSE) earned VND2,856 billion, up 28.5% over the same period last year, but due to a sharp 41% increase in cost of goods sold, after-tax profit decreased by 16.2%, falling to VND189 billion.

The parent company's after-tax profit fell to about VND170 billion, down 22.5% compared to the first quarter of 2023. Explaining that profits continued to decline in the first quarter of 2024 despite steady revenue growth, VHC said the main reason was the decrease in selling prices of pangasius products.

According to the recent April business results, VHC's revenue reached 1,091 billion VND, accumulated in the first 4 months of the year, revenue reached 3,902 billion VND, of which, pangasius brought in the highest revenue with 635 billion VND (up 22%), mixed products and rice products increased by 112% and 141% respectively.

Vingroup, Vice President Pham Thu Huong: After-tax profit increased by nearly 127% compared to the same period

Ms. Pham Thu Huong is known as the wife of Vingroup Chairman, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, and also holds the position of Vice Chairman of the group.

Vingroup (VIC, HOSE) spent the first quarter with net revenue reaching VND21,738.5 billion, down sharply by 44.5% over the same period (reaching VND38,963.4 billion).

But thanks to that, financial revenue increased sharply by 88% over the same period, profit after tax reached 1,335 billion VND, up 126.6% over the same period.

At the 2024 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Vingroup approved this year's business plan with the target of net revenue reaching VND 200,000 billion and after-tax profit reaching VND 4,500 billion. Thus, after the first 3 months of the year, VIC has completed 10.9% of net revenue and 30% of after-tax profit compared to the whole year plan.

REE Refrigeration Electrical Engineering, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh: Plans to issue 61.3 million shares

In the first quarter of this year, Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE, HOSE) recorded net revenue of nearly VND1,837.5 billion, down 22.4% over the same period last year. The main reason was that revenue from electricity and water infrastructure plummeted 34%, down to more than VND1,026.3 billion.

Although financial revenue increased slightly by 19.8%, expenses: financial expenses, sales expenses and business management expenses all decreased, but still could not help REE's profit grow positively, falling 48%, down to 548.9 billion VND.

REE said that the electricity revenue decreased due to the main impact from the sharp decrease in profits of member companies and affiliates in the hydropower group compared to the same period, including: Thac Ba Hydropower JSC, Thac Mo Hydropower JSC... causing the company's profits to decrease.

With a plan for the whole year 2024 with revenue reaching 10,588 billion VND, profit after tax is 2,408 billion VND, after the first quarter, REE has completed 17.4% of revenue and 22.8% of profit after tax.

In addition, REE plans to issue 61.3 million shares to complete the 2023 dividend payment. After this issuance, the company's charter capital will increase by about 15% to VND 4,710 billion.

PNJ Gold and Gemstones, President Cao Thi Ngoc Dung: Revenue increased sharply thanks to vibrant gold purchasing power

The sharp increase in gold prices from the fourth quarter of 2023, lasting until the first quarter of 2024, has helped Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ, HOSE) maintain its second consecutive quarter of profit growth, with profits increasing by 17% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023.

Typically, the revenue of the 24K (9999) gold channel increased by 66.3% compared to the same period last year. According to PNJ, the main factor is that customers are trading this item actively, and PNJ has attracted many new customers to buy the company's Tai Loc and 24K products. In addition, retail jewelry revenue in the first quarter of 2024 increased by 12.1% compared to the same period.

Thanks to that, net revenue in the first quarter increased sharply by 28.6% to VND 12,594 billion. However, due to the sharp increase in selling expenses and business management expenses, respectively 28.4% and 30.1% over the same period, profit after tax decreased slightly by 1.4%, reaching VND 737.8 billion.

Recently, PNJ announced additional business results for the first 4 months of the year, reaching VND 16,049 billion in revenue and VND 915 billion in profit, thus PNJ has achieved 43.2% of the revenue plan and 43.8% of the after-tax profit plan in 2024.
