The second is the sand mine exploited by Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC, located in Phu Thuan B commune, Hong Ngu district, with an area of ​​29.02 hectares and a total exploited reserve of 1,422,560m3.

The remaining mine was assigned to Hoang Anh Construction and Trading Company Limited for exploitation in Tan Khanh Trung commune, Lap Vo district, with an area of ​​36.77 hectares and a total exploited reserve of 1,115,169 m3.

Present at the construction site of three sand mines that are working throughout the 2024 Lunar New Year, Giao Thong Newspaper reporters saw that the dredgers and sand barges were operating continuously.

Mr. Lam Van Xuan, an officer operating the sand mine in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district, said that the sand mine was handed over by Dong Thap province to Hai Dang Joint Stock Company under a special mechanism and will start exploitation from December 1, 2023.

As of January 27, 2024, the amount of sand exploited by the company to the construction site for the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway construction is 140,731m3.

On the first day of Lunar New Year holiday alone, the company exploited about 2,000m3 of sand to bring to the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway construction site to continue construction throughout Tet.

Mr. Xuan said: "The company organized workers to work through Tet to soon have sand delivered to the construction site to serve the construction of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.

To encourage the spirit of workers to work together during the Tet holiday, Hai Dang Joint Stock Company also has a Tet bonus for workers working at the sand mine construction site according to regulations.

On the first day of the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, the working atmosphere at the sand mine directly exploited by Hai Dang Joint Stock Company was very bustling.

At the sand mine directly exploited by Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC in Phu Thuan B commune, Hong Ngu district (Dong Thap), the working atmosphere on the first day of Tet holiday was also very busy.

Mr. Pham Van Hai, sand mine operator in Phu Thuan B commune, Hong Ngu district (Dong Thap), Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC informed that in order to have sand continuously delivered to the construction site of Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, the company has actively coordinated with barge owners to operate 10 barges in rotation to work during Tet.

"There are usually three people on the barge. To support the workers to work continuously and actively, the company supports 3 million VND/barge trip when the workers transport sand to the construction site of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway," said Mr. Hai.

At the sand mine in Tan Khanh Trung commune, Lap Vo district (Dong Thap), Hoang Anh Construction and Trading Company Limited held a groundbreaking ceremony for sand mining on February 7. It was noted that on the morning of the 29th of Tet, at this sand mine, many barges were waiting for dredgers to scoop up sand and begin the journey to bring sand to the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.

Mr. Binh added: "With the current amount of equipment and human resources, the company is capable of supporting contractors to hand over sand mines according to a special exploitation mechanism to bring sand to the construction site soon.

Before sending workers to work at the sand mines, Dong Thap Construction and Construction Materials Joint Stock Company thoroughly emphasized the spirit of serious and responsible work to ensure that the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway meets the prescribed progress schedule.

Hoang Anh Construction and Trading Company Limited gave sand mining workers the first day off for the traditional Tet holiday.

Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan (41 years old), a dredger operator assigned by Dong Thap Construction and Construction Materials Joint Stock Company to support Hai Dang Joint Stock Company in directly exploiting sand at the sand mine in Thuong Thoi Tien town, Hong Ngu district, said that with 17 years of sand mining, he has never had to work during Tet.

But due to the urgent need to bring sand to the construction site of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, during the Lunar New Year 2024, he volunteered to stay at the sand mine to work through Tet.

"When the company arranged for me to work through Tet to exploit sand at this sand mine, I immediately agreed with the hope that the sand would be brought to the construction site soon so that the contractor of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway could meet the set schedule," said Mr. Tuan.

Meanwhile, at the sand mine in Phu Thuan B commune, Hong Ngu district, Dong Thap province assigned Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC to directly exploit.

Mr. Nguyen The Anh, a worker operating a sand scraper, said that in order to work through Tet, Dong Thap Construction and Construction Materials Joint Stock Company has arranged for 6 workers to be on duty 24/7 at this sand mine.

Mr. The Anh said: "This is the first time the workers of Dong Thap Construction and Building Materials Joint Stock Company have mined sand during Tet, so they are a bit confused. But everyone is very determined, responsible and tries their best to do the assigned work.

Because everyone wants the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway to be completed soon, contributing to the completion of the traffic infrastructure in the West.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway project connects many provinces in the Mekong Delta. In phase 1, the project has a total investment of more than VND 27,200 billion, divided into two component projects including Can Tho - Hau Giang, 36.7km long, with an investment capital of over VND 9,700 billion, and Hau Giang - Ca Mau, 72.8km long, with a capital of nearly VND 17,500 billion.
Construction started on January 1, 2023 and is expected to be completed in early 2026. The total sand demand for the entire project is about 18.1 million m3. In 2023 alone, 9.1 million m3 is needed and in 2024, 9 million m3 is needed.
