According to Engadget , the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is designed to deliver great battery life, where Qualcomm promises the chip will provide smartphones with “all-day use.” Qualcomm also promises the new chip offers fast CPU speeds, 5G connectivity, and the ability to upgrade photo quality through the integrated camera.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 will be available on many low-cost Android smartphones
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 comes with a proprietary Qualcomm Kryo CPU that can be clocked up to 2.2GHz - a slight increase over the previous generation. The latest and greatest Qualcomm chip also boasts fast charging technology, where the company claims users will get 50% battery life in just 15 minutes of charging.
The platform also brings support for modern Full HD+ displays with frame rates up to 120 fps, while enabling some impressive camera upgrades like electronic image stabilization, faster autofocus, blur reduction, and more. The chip even offers multi-camera temporal filtering (MCTF) to significantly reduce noise when creating videos.
Being a modern chip, it's no surprise that the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 will also focus on artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize multi-camera photography capabilities, with AI-based lighting adjustments for low-light photography and AI-enhanced background noise removal.
For connectivity, the chip integrates the proprietary Modern-RF X61 5G that promises “lightning-fast speeds” with enhanced frequency and network support.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is expected to arrive in budget Android smartphones later this year, with brands like Redmi and Vivo both committed to adding the new chip to their lineups.
