Asia

BLOOMBERG. Singapore has become the most expensive city for goods and services for the wealthy for the first time, surpassing Hong Kong (China), London (UK) and New York (USA).

TEMPO. Indonesia has just been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the 2023-2027 term, representing the East Asia and Pacific region.

ANTARA. This month, Indonesian police arrested nearly 500 suspects involved in a large-scale human trafficking operation that involved more than 1,500 victims.

KHMER TIMES. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has approved the proposal of the Ministry of National Defense on the policy of building a peace park called “Techo Santepheap” in agencies, units and localities in the near future.

XINHUA. Pakistan and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a $4.8 billion deal to build a 1,200-megawatt nuclear power plant in Pakistan.

TIME OF ISRAEl. The Israeli government has introduced regulations requiring all new non-residential buildings to install solar panels on their roofs, in order to meet renewable energy targets and rising electricity demand due to a rapidly growing population.

HAARETZ. Since July 6, the Israeli government has stopped its program to subsidize free testing for Covid-19, as the epidemic has decreased in both scale and nature.

Europe

DW. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited Kazakhstan and attended the German-Kazakhstan Economic Forum from June 20-21, to emphasize the enormous geopolitical and geoeconomic importance of the region,

CNA. On June 20 at the Vatican, Pope Francis held talks with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, who is on an official visit to several European countries.

REUTERS. The EU is expected to announce a 50 billion euro ($55 billion) aid package for Ukraine ahead of an international conference in London on June 21-22 on raising funds to help rebuild Ukraine after the conflict.

AP. Speaking ahead of a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during a visit to Paris, Prime Minister Meloni said: “It is certain that Italy and France will continue to support the Ukrainian cause as long as necessary.”

TASS. A Moscow court fined the messaging app Telegram 4 million rubles ($47,520) for refusing to remove 32 news channels that reported false and misleading information about Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.

WION. Finland's newly elected parliament has approved National Coalition party leader Petteri Orpo as the country's prime minister, ushering in a right-wing government.

AFP. Switzerland, Denmark and Ireland are the countries with the most competitive economies in the world, according to a new report by the Institute for Management Development (IMD).

BBC. The UK's first deep geothermal plant in 37 years has begun operating, helping the country catch up with Europe in renewable energy.

DW. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Chinese Premier Li Qiang co-chaired the 7th joint consultation under the motto "Acting together for sustainability", discussing the fight against climate change, promoting bilateral relations, especially economic and trade relations, as well as the conflict in Ukraine.

Meeting with his counterpart Li Qiang in Berlin, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Beijing to use its influence to help end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

America

CBC. Rescue workers and the Canadian Air Force are searching for two crew members missing after a large military transport helicopter crashed into the Ottawa River near a base west of Ottawa.

CNN. The US State Department has approved the sale of four MQ-9A Block 5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and related equipment to the Netherlands.

BUENOS AIRES TIMES. The Argentine Foreign Ministry announced that the government will submit to the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Committee 4) of the United Nations General Assembly a request for the UK to resume negotiations on the sovereignty of the Malvinas/Falklands Islands .

RIO NEWS. Brazilian authorities have seized 28.7 tonnes of shark fins before they were illegally shipped to Asia – the world’s largest-ever seizure of shark fins.

Africa

EURO NEWS. The EU and Kenya have concluded political negotiations on an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which is expected to boost trade in goods, create new economic opportunities and boost Kenya's economic development.

SONNA. The Somali army, in coordination with international partners, carried out an airstrike that killed two key leaders and 43 Al Shabaab militants in an area about 14 km from Jamame district in Lower Juba.

EGYPT NEWS. Egyptian House of Representatives Speaker Hanafy Gebaly called on all Libyan factions to resolve their differences and reach a peaceful solution soon to meet the aspirations of the people.

XINHUA. The United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) has begun withdrawing its forces from the country, according to MONUSCO chief Bintou Keita.

UNHCR. More than 500,000 people have fled the conflict in Sudan while 2 million are internally displaced, the head of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi.

AFRICA NEWS. Ugandan authorities have arrested 20 people suspected of links to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) group, which is blamed for an attack on a school near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo that left at least 42 people dead.

Oceania

ABC. Farmers in south-eastern Australia are battling an unprecedented outbreak of slugs that is severely affecting their crops.

THE AUSTRALIA. The Anthony Albanese government will provide an additional $4.45 million to help Sudan respond to the worsening humanitarian crisis.
