Adidas ad featuring male model wearing women's swimsuit causes outrage

The New York Post reported that adidas launched its Price 2023 swimwear collection. The brand posted a series of photos of male models wearing women's swimsuits.

A photo of a model wearing a $70 one-piece swimsuit is causing a stir because it shows her private parts. In another moment, the outfit shows off the model's chest hair.

In a press release posted on May 15, adidas said the product line serves as "a call to empower and support the LGBTQIA+ community." It is currently unclear whether the adidas models are male or transgender.

Adidas's ads have received a lot of criticism. Former swimmer Riley Gaines, a women's rights activist, commented: "I don't understand why the company would do this. They could have just labeled the product unisex."

Some customers expressed their unwillingness to buy products from the brand. Others found it difficult to accept the image of men's sensitive parts exposed when wearing women's swimwear.

This is not the first time the brand has caused controversy with its advertising. In February last year, the sportswear brand posted images of 25 topless women in a bra campaign.

"We believe that women's breasts, of all shapes and sizes, deserve to feel comfortable," the brand said. The campaign received mixed reviews. An independent advertising regulator in the UK banned the campaign, according to Footwear News .
