Old space

Nestled in an alley on Le Van Duyet Street (Ward 3, Binh Thanh District), Ca Pho has a nostalgic style. Walking slowly, from outside the door, diners can hear the sound of guitar, feeling relaxed.

The sign indicates the entrance to the restaurant.

This small coffee shop is filled with greenery. Upon entering, customers will immediately encounter a newspaper stand, a "grocery store" full of familiar snacks, and old tables and chairs. The shop's decorative newsstand is updated with new newspapers every day, so customers can comfortably drink coffee and read the newspaper.

Everything in the shop is meticulously cared for, the menu is handwritten in a lined notebook with drinks and side dishes such as tea, egg coffee, egg milk soda, pig ear cake, yeast cake, ice cream sandwiches...

The restaurant space has a gentle green color.

Le Dinh Duc (19 years old, manager of the shop) said that the reason the shop is called Ca Pho shop is because the owner is originally from the Central region. The owner named the shop this affectionately, similar to the way people call it in their hometown.

The shop opened about a year ago. This is a place where many young people come to check in or want to find a peaceful space, temporarily away from the hustle and bustle of life. The shop is located in a small alley so there are few visitors. Here, the staff chats and chats with customers comfortably.

Traveling to many provinces to hunt for… antiques

Sharing with Thanh Nien , Dinh Duc said that the shop has many interesting stories about finding antiques for decoration. In the early days, people took motorbikes all over Ho Chi Minh City to find decorations. They found a Catholic neighborhood in Tan Binh District with many old handicrafts, so they often visited.

Dinh Duc shares about the nostalgic style coffee shop

"We were very happy to find a place with so many antiques. Gradually, people also pointed out many other places. When we bought those items, we were very satisfied, but when we brought them back to the shop, the decoration was not suitable, sometimes we had to carry them back in the rain," said the 10X manager.

Old space at Ca Pho restaurant

At first, there were no… connections, so people went all over the Western provinces to find antiques. The shop had books published long ago, decades ago. The books were also diverse in genres such as history, economics, novels… When asked, I found out that they often went to used bookstores to hunt for old books.

Snacks filled with childhood memories

"In addition to the books that are quite old, the cabinets are also old items. Even though they are old, they can still be used. The shop is located on the second floor for everyone to admire. Old friends from the countryside often know those wooden cabinets, so everyone is amazed and excited," Dinh Duc said.

The grocery store looks pretty fun.

Occasionally, customers ask about the age of the items, and the staff enthusiastically answer.

Modern Ho Chi Minh City with busy streets, crowded shops and skyscrapers. Ca Pho is considered by many to be a place to find peace and carefree.

The unique decoration of the coffee shop

Pham Nhat Hieu (19 years old, student) said he came to the shop because he liked the old space. "I enjoy the decoration style of the shop and the drinks. I was born in the countryside and came to the city to study at university, so the objects in the shop remind me of my primary school days, very familiar," Hieu commented.

Sharing the same feeling, Ms. Dang Thu Thao (23 years old, living in Binh Thanh District) said that she is a regular customer of the shop. "If I have free time, I often invite my friends to come here to drink coffee and take check-in photos. Instead of going to modern, crowded coffee shops, I often choose places with old spaces."
