The turning point of the match came in the 67th minute when centre-back Upamecano kicked Lazio striker Isaksen straight in the penalty area and was sent off. Immobile then easily beat goalkeeper Neuer from the penalty spot, helping Lazio open the scoring.
With a shortage of players, Bayern could hardly create a breakthrough in the attack in the remaining time even though they sent two midfielders Tel and Choupo-Moting onto the field. In the end, the German representative lost 0-1 to Lazio.
