As Dan Tri reported, the Ministry of Construction's 2024 summary report and 2025 mission orientations said that Vietnam Cement Corporation (Vicem) recorded a loss of up to VND 1,402 billion. Although the loss was reduced by VND 177.5 billion compared to the original plan, this is still the second consecutive year that Vicem has fallen into a loss situation (in 2023, it lost more than VND 1,100 billion). Vicem's parent company lost nearly VND 237 billion in 2024.

Vicem is also the only unit among the six enterprises under the Ministry of Construction that suffered a loss last year.

In November 2024, the Ministry of Finance Inspectorate also announced the conclusion of the inspection at Vietnam Cement Corporation (Vicem). According to the conclusion, some investments at Vicem parent company have potential risks of losing investment capital. Specifically, on December 31, 2023, Vicem parent company made provisions for investment losses with an amount of more than VND 3,000 billion for 7 investments.

The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Finance requested Vicem to review and evaluate the financial accounts of inefficient businesses. Vicem must direct the representatives of capital contributions at these parties to consult with the Board of Members and the Board of Directors to develop specific plans to overcome financial difficulties and prolonged accumulated losses.

The Inspectorate also requested Vicem to urgently review and decide on appropriate financial supervision of companies showing signs of financial insecurity.
