* On the same afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received Mr. Honna Hitoshi, Chairman and General Director of Erex Biomass Power Corporation of Japan.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the Erex Group's investment decision in the biomass power sector in Vietnam and said that biomass power has been included in the Power Plan VIII, playing the role of a base energy source for renewable energy projects.
The "problem" for biomass power projects is the efficiency of land use for growing biomass fuel compared to agricultural crops and livestock; harmonizing and sharing benefits between businesses, people and the state with electricity prices suitable to Vietnam's socio-economic conditions.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Erex Group identify specific areas for project implementation and carefully calculate for success because the project originated from the idea of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Union. In addition to the biomass power sector, Erex Group can participate in the treatment of solid waste and by-products in the fields of agriculture and forestry, promoting afforestation and environmental treatment.
Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Honna Hitoshi said that Vietnam has great potential in developing biomass power, due to the large volume of agricultural and forestry by-products that have not been effectively used. In addition, biomass power also contributes to reducing emissions from coal-fired power plants with co-firing options, etc.
In the coming time, Erex Group will fully absorb the Deputy Prime Minister's close guidance to implement biomass fuel planting projects as well as build biomass power plants in Vietnam.
