In the context of economic difficulties affecting all aspects of socio-economic life in the first half of 2023, agriculture has truly affirmed and promoted its role as the "support" of the economy, ensuring social security and employment for workers.
To develop agricultural commodity production, strongly targeting the export market, increasing the value of agricultural products, delegate Le Chi Thanh - Vinh Long City, raised the question: What solutions has the Provincial People's Committee had in leading and directing "Planning of planting areas, the process of implementing planning, guiding, training in farming techniques, applying science and technology, high technology in agricultural production; granting MSVT, geographical indications, traceability, quality standards (VietGAP, according to VietGAP process, according to EU standards and other countries); building brands, labels of agricultural products, linking production and consumption, promoting trade, finding consumption markets, packaging key agricultural products for domestic consumption and export".
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Lu Quang Ngoi said: The province always identifies planning growing areas as an important task, because it both ensures the goal of building concentrated commodity areas and helps investment work to be on target, avoiding dispersion.
Currently, the province has developed a plan for the production of key and potential crops to orient development and organize production in the field of cultivation; it is expected that by 2030, the area will reach 169,500 hectares, with an output of about 2.6 million tons/year.
Activities of applying science and technology in agricultural production are promoted through activities such as: training programs, models, projects, farming techniques, pest prevention, implementing production models applying new technical advances...
Thereby, contributing to improving economic efficiency and increasing income for farmers.
The province has promptly and effectively implemented the implementation, dissemination and popularization of policies and laws related to the issuance of MSVT, geographical indications, traceability and quality standards; strictly implemented the inspection, supervision and management of growing areas.
Thereby, contributing to raising awareness of relevant agencies and people about the issuance and management of MSVT.
By May 2023, the whole province had 107 growing areas that had been granted codes; 12 facilities were certified with GAP, ISO and equivalent standards; 24 facilities packaged agricultural products for export.
The work of building agricultural product brands and trademarks, linking production and consumption, and promoting trade is focused on. The total annual agricultural product export output is over 32,000 tons. The main agricultural product export markets are China, the US, Australia, etc.

Mr. Lu Quang Ngoi said: In the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee will focus on directing the implementation of a number of key solutions.
In particular, research to add indicators on MSVT, packaging facilities to resolutions, programs, projects, and annual socio-economic development action plans of the province. Focus on directing the development of crop areas according to the province's master plan for socio-economic development.
In addition, mobilize resources to support people in building MSVT, packaging products, tracing origins, and linking consumption of agricultural products of the province.

In particular, there are policies to support agricultural production to encourage and develop growing areas and packaging facilities according to the scale of commodity production to meet the requirements of importing countries.
At the same time, direct the relevant departments to develop a plan to organize the implementation of the establishment and management of MSVT and packaging facilities in accordance with the Central Government's instructions.
Pay special attention to regulations and production conditions to serve traceability according to the requirements of importing countries; implement pesticide residue monitoring programs; strictly implement management and supervision of planting areas and packaging facilities that have been granted codes.
At the same time, strengthen trade promotion activities; effectively carry out information work, forecast agricultural product consumption markets, requirements on standards and quality of agricultural products of each consumption market; deploy solutions to connect and expand markets and distribution channels for agricultural products of the province; support enterprises and cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector to participate in supply chains and e-commerce; focus on infrastructure investment in concentrated commodity production areas.
Mr. Bui Van Nghiem - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, commented that the initial construction of MSVT has been quite successful. In the coming time, it is necessary to soon deploy the province's planning, focusing on planning to ensure synchronization and effectiveness, especially the planning of the agricultural sector to ensure concentration.
In addition, it is necessary to review and re-evaluate products with output that meet requirements in order to be able to call for investment in building processing plants; focus on solutions to establish cooperatives and cooperative groups associated with building MSVT to manage well and make sure that each step is done is effective.
At the same time, it is necessary to organize production well, research the market, and base on the criteria and orders of the importing unit to overcome the situation of "good harvest, low price". Along with that, it is necessary to have a closed planning of the growing area, strictly manage MSVT and packaging facilities.
