Bringing the law to life

Insiders believe that preserving and promoting cultural heritage is not only the responsibility of state management agencies but also requires the participation of the whole society. These solutions do not stop at preserving artifacts but also include activities of displaying, introducing and training, improving human resources. This helps to increase awareness and connect the community with cultural values, develop the city's cultural heritage into a national asset, an important social capital contributing to the sustainable development of the city. The socialization of conservation activities not only helps to reduce the burden on the state budget but also encourages the active participation of the community and private organizations.

According to experts, Ho Chi Minh City needs to promote the dissemination and popularization of the Law on Cultural Heritage and sub-law documents that need to be implemented in many diverse and rich forms such as: Organizing training, knowledge improvement, thematic talks; propaganda on the press, radio, internet... This will contribute to solving difficulties for state management of the cultural field in general, and the city's heritage in particular.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai acknowledged: "If we do a good job of bringing the law into practice, the encroachment and encroachment on relics will be prevented in time. The work of restoration, embellishment, and protection of relics will be carried out thoroughly. In addition, the work of inspection, examination, and handling of violations of the law on cultural heritage also needs to be carried out regularly."

Architect Nguyen Truong Luu, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations, said that in order for cultural heritages to be transformed into resources, "soft power" for sustainable socio-economic development. Accordingly, the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritages must be carried out comprehensively, from research and identification activities to activities of protecting, preserving and promoting the value of heritages. The work of teaching and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritages, especially traditional art forms of the city, must also be given attention.

Ho Chi Minh City is actively digitizing relics; promoting the diversification of activities to make relics a regular destination for the community, promoting the connection of relic sites with each other; widely applying technology to introduce relics; promoting propaganda so that people can access and understand more about relics in the city.
