French national rail operator SNCF said on Sunday that repairs to the country's rail network had been completed, following arson attacks on the first day of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

"Thanks to the exceptional efforts of SNCF Network staff, who have been working non-stop since Friday morning, repair works have now been completed on all high-speed rail services affected by the sabotage attacks," SNCF said.

"The tests were successful and the train lines can now operate normally," the operator said, adding that there would be no further disruptions from Monday morning.

Three overnight arsons on Friday severely disrupted rail traffic in Paris.

The vandals targeted the TGV Atlantique, Est and Nord high-speed lines, which run from Paris to Bordeaux, Strasbourg and Lille respectively. Maintenance workers prevented a fourth attack.

About 800,000 passengers were affected by delayed and cancelled train services on Friday and Saturday.

Investigators do not yet know who was behind the attacks or whether they were intended to disrupt the Olympics.
