With the calculations of both PSG and Real in the "transfer chess game" of expensive striker Mbappe, the 24-year-old French star may fall into a difficult situation of losing the right to decide his own future.

One of the most intriguing transfer stories in world football in recent years continues to dominate the headlines as striker Kylian Mbappe recently informed the Parc des Princes that he will not be renewing his contract.
'Pawn' Kylian Mbappe continues to be ambiguous
A year after Kylian Mbappe decided to snub Real Madrid and sign a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Los Blancos could be closer than ever to landing one of the world's greatest strikers.
However, the prospect of Real entering another summer with speculation about whether the French striker will move to Madrid or not is still there. Along with that, there is the possibility that the French striker will leave PSG but the destination is not La Liga but the Premier League!
According to CNN, in response to an article in Le Parisien titled “Kylian Mbappe wants to join Real this summer,” Mbappe wrote on Twitter: “These are lies… I said that I will continue next season at PSG, where I am very happy.”
The current speculation is similar to those that Mbappe would leave PSG in 2021, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron urging him to stay in Paris.
Speaking to the press on June 15 about his future at PSG, Mbappe said: “He (the President) wants me to stay in Paris and my goal is to stay. We are on the same wavelength.” - Mbappe told reporters. “Will I leave PSG? I have answered, my goal is to stay at PSG, that is my only option at the moment. I am ready to return before the season continues.”
But PSG are not optimistic and 'naive' about Mbappe's statements, they know they need to make an important decision soon: Sell their star player this summer, or let him leave for free in 2024?
Would PSG opt for the former to recoup some of the €180 million ($195 million) it paid to sign Mbappe from AS Monaco in 2017 - a fee that made the then-teenage striker the second most expensive player in history, behind Neymar?
As for Real Madrid, would the Spanish club be willing to shell out such a huge fee for a young player – Mbappe is only 24 and may not be at his peak yet, when Real could sign him for free in just a year’s time?
Mbappe: PSG swamp and Champions League obsession
Mbappe has seen Qatar's PSG project collapse this season as the Parisian club once again "quietly" said goodbye to the Champions League in the round of 16, "limping" to win the Ligue 1 championship against Lens - a club with a limited budget.
PSG's prospects are arguably bleaker than ever since Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) bought the club in 2011. Losing Mbappe - perhaps the most influential player in French football at the moment - would be a major blow to PSG's ambitions.
Even with PSG and Qatar’s near-limitless funds, filling Mbappe’s “giant shoes” will be a difficult task. Along with Erling Haaland, Mbappe is widely regarded as the most talented player in football and has been a relentless goal machine during his six years in the French capital.
The 24-year-old superstar has been Ligue 1's top scorer for five consecutive seasons and set a club record with 212 goals in 260 games - surpassing the previous record holder, Edinson Cavani, in March.
Mbappe has won five Ligue 1 titles, three Coupes de France and two Coupes de la Ligue in six seasons with PSG. He also helped the team reach the 2020 Champions League final, where PSG lost to Bayern Munich.
Winning the Champions League has been an obsession for anyone associated with PSG since the French club was taken over by QSI in 2011. But PSG now seem further away than ever from lifting the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history.
So, clearly, if he stays at PSG, Mbappe will still see the big-eared trophy from afar, even just through the TV screen, not up close like in the 2020 season.

It can be seen that Mbappe does not want to go to Real Madrid for money. Although no one knows exactly how much Mbappe receives at PSG, according to Le Parisien, the figure is about 40 million Euros/year with a salary of approximately 1 million Euros/week.
Also according to Le Parisien's calculations, if he plays the entire 2025 season, Mbappe will have 630 million Euros in salary in his account.
Real Madrid may find it difficult to pay this amount for the French striker. However, Real Madrid has the attraction of countless auras that every player dreams of. Meanwhile, Mbappe's childhood dream of wearing the shirt of the Spanish royal club is no secret.
Although rich owners are willing to spend more to keep Mbappe at PSG longer, especially after both Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos left the Parc des Princes. But is money enough for Mbappe to continue wasting his years in a lower league?
There is no doubt that every team in the world would want to sign Mbappe, but the list of teams actually “pursuing” this young star is not long.
Apart from Real, Manchester United are also on the hunt for a new striker, but the uncertainty over who will be next to own the Red Devils could derail this hunt.
While Mbappe's huge fee that could become a free in just one year is a major hurdle for him this transfer window.
According to a recent source, PSG has given Mbappe an ultimatum: "either stay or leave immediately!"
On Real's side, the "shame" of last year's failed deal is still there. In addition, despite signing Jude Bellingham to bring one of the world's best midfielders from Borussia Dortmund to Becnabeu, but in the context of star striker Karim Benzema leaving Becnabeu for Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad Club, leaving a big gap in Real's attack, they are forced to quickly fill it.
Therefore, the message for Mbappe is "if you don't make a decisive decision, you will miss the train to the "Madrid galaxy!"
At that time, the story "Where will Mbappe go?", although it continues to consume a lot of ink, is no longer decided by Mbappe!
