Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup Zhipu AI has just introduced its latest large language model GLM-4 and demonstrated the technological advances it has made over the past three years.
Zhang Peng, CEO of Zhipu AI, claims that GLM-4 has a significant overall performance increase compared to previous models, approaching the capabilities of GPT-4, a large language model developed by the US company OpenAI.
Notably, GLM-4 supports enhanced contextualization, enhanced multimodal processing, faster inference, higher parallelism, and significantly reduced overhead. Additionally, a wide range of GLM customization options are now available to meet user needs.
By leveraging the powerful capabilities of the GLM-4 model, users can create their own chatbots, with simple prompts, significantly reducing the initial barrier for those who have never used large language models, the company says.
Zhipu AI announced that it has initiated the establishment of a fund to develop open-source large language models. This comprehensive initiative includes providing thousands of AI chip cards to the open-source large language model community, as well as committing $1.39 million in cash to support open-source projects related to large language models.
Founded in 2019, Zhipu AI has attracted a lot of attention from the technology world in recent times. In June 2023, the US technology publication The Information listed Zhipu AI as one of the top 5 Chinese companies most likely to become 'China's OpenAI' in the future.
