Sprint to the finish line of tourism target in 2024

According to tourism statistics, Quang Ninh is estimated to welcome 1.22 million visitors in November, contributing to raising the total number of tourists to the province in the past 11 months to 17.989 million, with tourism revenue reaching nearly 43,549 billion VND. These two figures increased by 21% and 38% respectively over the same period last year; slightly higher than the scenario of Plan No. 177/KH-UBND dated August 6, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing solutions to attract an additional 2 million tourists this year.

Of the nearly 18 million visitors mentioned above, the number of domestic visitors to Quang Ninh reached more than 14.5 million, and international visitors reached nearly 3.46 million. Notably, in the top 10 international tourist markets to Quang Ninh in recent times, the number of visitors China is outstanding, leading with over 1.752 million arrivals. The number of Chinese tourists is 7 times higher than the number of international visitors, followed by Korea, Taiwan, India, the US, Japan, France, Australia, the UK, and Germany. India is a new international tourist market of Quang Ninh but this year has risen to 4th place with nearly 148,000 arrivals.

Localities have also shown great efforts in attracting visitors. Up to this point, most cities, districts and towns in the area have estimated that the number of tourists for the whole year will reach, exceeding the target set by the province in attracting an additional 2 million visitors, bringing the total number of visitors to Quang Ninh to 19 million in 2024.

Localities with a rate exceeding the target are Tien Yen, estimated to receive 148,000 arrivals for the whole year, an increase of 85% of the plan assigned by the province; Binh Lieu, estimated to receive more than 220,000 arrivals, an increase of 83%; Dong Trieu, estimated to receive 1.4 million arrivals, an increase of 44%; Dam Ha, estimated to receive more than 54,000 arrivals, an increase of 35%; Cam Pha, estimated to receive 1.29 million arrivals, an increase of 34%; Hai Ha, estimated to receive more than 152,000 arrivals, an increase of 27%; Mong Cai, estimated to receive 4 million arrivals, an increase of 23% compared to the plan assigned by the province...

To achieve these results, Quang Ninh has continued to focus on developing domestic and international tourism markets. At the end of October and in November, dozens of programs and events were successfully organized in the province.

Typical examples include: Tea Street Flower Festival in Hai Ha; opening of the Cultural - Tourism Week of Binh Lieu district with a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities lasting from the end of October to the end of the year in the district (Golden Season Festival, So Flower Festival, Quang Ninh Province Ethnic Minority Women's Football Tournament, Dinosaur Back Conquering Mountain Climbing Tournament, Paragliding Festival "Flying over the Golden Season"; festival Golden season of Soong Co Dai Duc; Ha Long Bay Heritage Marathon 2024, held in mid-November, attracted over 13,000 runners to participate...

According to statistics, by the end of November, 150/186 programs and events had been successfully organized, attracting the participation of a large number of tourists to Quang Ninh. Although some localities did not have initial plans, in November they organized additional events, contributing to attracting tourists. These are the 2024 OCOP Fairs combined with trade in Uong Bi City, Van Don District and Quang Yen Town; the 2024 Quang Ninh Province Ethnic Minority Sports Tournament in Binh Lieu District; and the 2024 Hai Son Commune Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival (Mong Cai City).

Recently, in order to realize the goal of attracting 2 million more tourists in 2024, Quang Ninh has actively connected sea tourism routes with Guangxi according to the plan. On November 16, a cruise ship from Beihai City (Guangxi, China) carrying nearly 1,200 passengers to Ha Long International Passenger Port marked the reopening of the Ha Long - Beihai sea tourism route after many efforts of Quang Ninh (Vietnam) - Guangxi (China). Then, on November 18, the Blue Dream Melody cruise ship on the Beihai - Ha Long route returned to Quang Ninh. It is expected that the Ha Long - Beihai cruise route will operate regularly from 2025.

To increase the number of tourists in the fall and winter, at the end of November, functional units such as the Department of Tourism, Quang Ninh Tourism Association and Sun Group Corporation organized a program to announce cooperation to stimulate tourism "Quang Ninh - Four-season destination", implemented until the end of the first quarter of 2025 with a series of products and services for tourists with deep discounts of up to 50%.

The program has the participation of more than 300 businesses in the service supply chain in many fields in Quang Ninh, such as: Hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, cruise ships with over 350 attractive stimulus packages... has been showing encouraging results in attracting tourists.

Thus, despite the devastation caused by super typhoon Yagi, Quang Ninh has made strong efforts to recover and is very close to the record of welcoming 19 million visitors for the whole year, of which international visitors reached over 3.5 million, with tourism revenue reaching over 46,460 billion VND. To realize this goal, Quang Ninh is expected to attract over 1.31 million visitors this December, of which international visitors are estimated at 342,000, with total tourism revenue estimated at over 3,644 billion VND...
